I wrote a blog about Turmeric milk back in 2017, and it's currently having a resurgence so I'm re-posting. Have loved hearing from people who have tried my version and loved it. Full details are on my website and bio.

I love hot turmeric milk, and I've been raised drinking it being from a Gujarati family. It's my go to when I'm cold or ill.

Turmeric latte, Golden milk, whatever you want to call it are now quite fashionable in the West but come at quite a price.

I refuse to pay so much when I know how easy and quick it is to make, so I'm sharing my favourite for you to try - link in my bio.

Let me know if you try it.

Today is the final day of October, which is also the last day of Menopause Awareness month. I haven't posted anything about this all month but wanted to get in there before November hits.

I'm 53 and still in peri-menopause, which I think I've been in around 10 years. So I've most likely experienced most symptoms at some stage.

In our mother's and grandmother's generations they rarely ever mentioned menopause or how they were.
Over the recent years I'm pleased that the subject of menopause is out there and openly discussed. And having been omitted from most medical research, women's health is finally coming to the front, and with that is more details about what actually happens during menopause, how this affects us long term and how we can help ourselves.

Menopause is a natural transition in our lives. I know that for a lot of people it's complicated and not easy. But for me I'm happy, ready and embracing this stage of my life. I'm happier, more me and generally do not give many s**ts. 😉

I do have some of the mental, emotional and physical symptoms, but currently I'm managing.

Due to family history of oestrogen cancers I cannot take HRT so I've looked at so many other options to help. I started most things a long time ago to help with my endometriosis, adenomyosis and fibroids. But it helps with menopause symptoms too.

This includes:

🍽️ Changing diet.

🏋🏽‍♀️Increased and specific exercises.

🍸Cutting back/stopping alcohol.

🧘🏾‍♀️Breathing exercises and meditation.

👣 Regular reflexology, acupuncture, osteopathy and others.

🗣️ Saying no when it's not right for me and remaining within my boundaries.

How do you find dealing with peri or post menopause?

What do you do to manage?

Did you ever try menopause reflexology to help?

Thank you to AoR and FHT for their images.

Here we are again – October. It’s Autumn but it’s also Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Over the years I’ve posted about cancer, and breast cancer, and how it’s affected my family.

My sister, Priya, wrote a blog post on my website 5 years ago about her breast cancer diagnosis aged 40. We decided that it was time for an update, 7 years on from her diagnosis.

Priya wants to keep raising awareness as possible, and talking about things and sharing information seems the best way to demystify or take away and embarrassment or shame.

Here are a few extracts from the post that Priya wrote and in Priya’s own words (full story on the blog via links).

“7 YEARS
Like the post says
Still Alive To Complain

There are so many people who forget that I had a breast cancer diagnosis, or a mastectomy (I chose to not have reconstructive surgery). In some ways this is good, as I'm not treated differently.

However, they don't realise that you live with ongoing issues following any cancer surgery or treatment and this affects you day to day in so many ways.

You don't go back to being the 'old you'. What you do get is to become this 'new you'.

But what does that mean?

Every single time something happens or I feel pain, a part of me wanted to ignore it.

Then I look at my kids and remember why I try.

Every appointment, every test, were so scary to have.

But the hardest was the waiting.

Waiting for tests.

Waiting for results.

Our thoughts can go into a very dark place.

'Scanxiety' is a real thing, and until you have experienced it over and over again people just can't understand it.

But it’s better to know these things sooner and to face things.

Please check yourselves.

Breasts, prostate, anywhere.

Learn what YOUR normal is so you have a chance to notice if something is wrong.”

I have been trained to offer Reproflexology/Fertility Reflexology since 2013, when I trained with Barbara Scott in this wonderful treatment. It was exactly the sort of course I had been looking for, one that offered detailed reproductive health anatomy/physiology, processes and reflexology protocols to support for all of this and then the same for those trying to get pregnant.

At that time I was teaching my own courses and diplomas in pregnancy reflexology and other courses that I had developed. I had to stop teaching in 2017 as I was caring for my father through his cancer treatment.

Last year I decided I would start to run courses again and was just thinking about which ones when Barbara Scott approached me (and a few others) to ask if we would be interested in doing some more advanced training with her with the idea we would then be Seren Licensed Trainers offering face to face courses in our own respective geographical areas as Barbara was doing online courses only. So I spent a year doing this excellent advanced training with Barbara and 2 other Seren practitioners and all 3 of us are now the only Seren Licensed practitioners in the UK.

My face to face courses run in London, and if you are looking to develop your understanding about reflexology to support reproductive health and fertility then this course may be exactly what you need. As well as doing the course you will also then have the support of the closed Facebook group and the Association of Reproductive Reflexologists. Upon qualifying you will also be added to the directory. There is a lot of theory but also a lot of practical work, and in person training means you get to experience the practical work and learn what exactly you are feeling for on the feet and how that relates to the individual in front of you and feel what the protocols are exactly like. All the training is approved by the Association of Reflexologists (AoR) and the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT).
The next course (Part 1) is in London in September and there are a few spaces left. Link is in profile for booking.
