Brynn’s story will sound familiar…

This isn’t just progress this is genuinely a complete life transformation 🤩

Mike’s journey is a powerful reminder that it’s never too late to rewrite your story. A full-time working dad, he came into physique development later than most and for a long time, he truly believed he’d already tried everything. Focusing on calories burned during a cut is a waste of time because fat loss is determined by how many calories you consume relative to your needs, calories burned from exercise are inaccurate estimates and already partly accounted for in your daily energy expenditure...

Reverse diet phase wrapped up nicely with šŸ¤

He is now sitting at the same weight in both his starting visuals and his current physique update but a totally different body composition! Wild...

As you can see from the two slides this has been a process of stringing together productive phases back to back.

The first slide shows his initial starting point before we began a 12-week dieting phase. In all honesty, the approach wasn’t overly aggressive in terms of calorie reduction or output, which allowed us to achieve a strong body recomposition rather than just rapid weight loss.

We then transitioned into a strategic holding phase around Christmas to stabilize progress and maintain results. From there, we moved into a structured reverse diet, which we’ve now been running successfully for the past eight weeks, focusing on restoring calories, improving performance, and supporting long-term sustainability.

The reverse phase is often more important than the diet itself because it determines whether your results last. After being in a large or even moderate calorie deficit for a long period of time, your metabolism is usually slowed, hunger hormones are elevated, and your body is primed to regain fat quickly.

A structured reverse phase gradually increases calories, allowing your metabolism, hormones, and energy levels to recover without excessive fat gain. Without this transition, many people regain weight rapidly, undoing the hard work of the diet causing this yo-yo effect through the entire year.

Remember the cutting phase helps you lose the body fat, but the reverse phase helps you keep it off and restore long-term progress and ultimately balance if that is your goal as you can maintain this comfortably.

We are now in close proximity to being truly fat free. The final dig is underway then we enter peak week. It's time to dry out, carb up, wash off any fatigue and bring a crisp peaked look to shoot day.

This transformation is about far more than the incredible 11kg she’s lost or the muscle we’ve built along the way.

It represents a complete lifestyle shift - one rooted in education, structure, confidence, and long-term sustainability.

In her 50s, she believed she was stuck like many women, stuck not enjoying training, stuck in the cycle of drinking more than she wanted, stuck thinking her best years were behind her.

The biggest shift? Education.

We rebuilt her training from the ground up mastering technique, understanding movement patterns, working through structured phases instead of random workouts. When you know why you’re doing something, confidence replaces frustration.

But the real transformation also came from nutrition.

She stopped dieting and started fueling. She learned how to eat to support performance, recovery and energy while still enjoying life. Off-plan meals became structured, intentional, and guilt-free… not a weekend free-for-all. That balance changed everything.

Lifestyle coaching is very different to prep. It's about meeting that individual where there are and building habits that fit the individual. Everyone’s goals are different and the route to getting there should reflect that.

Your habits are building your future – are you choosing them or are they choosing you? šŸ’„

This week marks the beginning of Lent, which kicked off on Ash Wednesday - 18th February and it is a time that means different things to different people. Lent lasts for 40 days.

It is also the start of Ramadan in the Islamic culture which is a time used for reflection and celebration. This is for a period of 30 days.

Both traditions emphasise the importance of spiritual renewal and discipline, despite the ways in which they are practised to be very different.

In lent,you can choose to fast from a habit or food, for the period of 40 days leading up to Easter. Whereas in Ramadan, it is a choice to maintain total abstinence for the duration of daylight hours.

So it got me thinking about our habits, our cultures and ways in which we choose to practise discipline in our own lives. What if this next 4 weeks wasn’t just about ā€œgiving something upā€ for the sake of it, but about becoming more intentional overall?

What habits are currently shaping your days and which ones are nourishing you?

Maybe this is a time to fast from something that distracts you or a time to reduce something that drains you…

I’m choosing to recommit to my 10k steps daily and reduce screen time in the evening to unwind and switch off before bed. I want to reset my mind, reconnect my spiritual energy, and create space for clarity in this instance.
