Self-Injury Awareness Day is a reminder to approach a difficult topic with compassion and care.

For many teens, self-injury is not about attention — it’s often a way of coping with overwhelming emotions they don’t yet have words for. For families, it can feel frightening and confusing. What matters most is creating space for open, judgment-free conversations.

A simple “I’m here for you” can mean more than you know. Healing is possible, and no one has to face this alone. 💛

🌟 Children’s Mental Health Week 🌟

This week Compass GO had the pleasure of delivering a whole-school assembly on the Five Ways to Wellbeing 💚
We explored simple but powerful ways we can all look after our mental health:
🤝 Connect – building positive relationships
🏃 Be Active – moving our bodies to boost our mood
🧠 Keep Learning – trying new things and building confidence
💛 Give – showing kindness to others
🌿 Take Notice – being present and appreciating the world around us

It was fantastic to see so much enthusiasm and thoughtful participation from the children. Small daily actions can make a big difference to how we feel, and it’s never too early to start building healthy wellbeing habits.
Thank you for having us and for championing children’s mental health! 💫

Safer Internet Day: Protecting Children’s Mental Health in a Digital World

As technology becomes an increasingly integral part of children’s lives, Safer Internet Day serves as a crucial reminder to promote both online safety and mental well-being. Did you know that over 90% of children aged 8-17 in the UK are online daily, and nearly half of 10-15-year-olds report feeling anxious or upset by what they encounter on the internet? These statistics show how the digital world can be overwhelming, impacting self-esteem and mental health.

While the internet offers endless opportunities for learning and connection, it also exposes children to risks like cyberbullying, unrealistic comparisons on social media, and excessive screen time. These stressors can contribute to feelings of isolation, anxiety, and depression. By teaching children how to navigate the digital landscape safely, set healthy boundaries, and recognize the impact of online content, we can help protect their mental health in a connected world.

Children’s Mental Health Week: The Power of Place

During Children’s Mental Health Week, we are reminded of how essential a safe, supportive environment is for a child’s well-being. The places they grow, learn, and play shape not just their experiences but their sense of security and self-worth. Whether it’s at home, school, or in the community, feeling safe and accepted in these spaces helps children thrive emotionally and mentally. The right place can nurture a child’s confidence, creativity, and resilience. By fostering environments that encourage connection and understanding, we can support their mental health and give them the tools they need to navigate life’s challenges.

Time to Talk Day is important, but every day should be too.

While Time to Talk Day encourages us to open up about mental health, the truth is that we should make time to talk—and listen—every day. Conversations, big or small, can make all the difference. Taking just a few minutes to check in on someone, or sharing how you’re really feeling, can strengthen connections and break down barriers. The more we make space for open dialogue, the more we normalize it, helping everyone feel seen, heard, and supported.
