A little piece of history - Along with your help!

1988, the year that Jan and I decided to embark on the creation of what is now known as Near & Near Undertakers Limited. Initially trading under the name of Terence Hartley Funerals, names of two of our grandfathers, then after a year or so the business name changed to Hartley Near and in 1991 it finally became Near & Near Undertakers.

The building we are located in, The Mews, David Street was previously the premises of Hipkins Builders and is steeped in history. Part of it, now rebuilt, was used by the local community for social events and other parts were definitely used to house farm animals.

Research into the history of this old building is ongoing and so this section will be updated as more information is obtained.
