Goal setting ✨

One thing that keeps my motivation up is by creating small achievable goals I reckon I could hit within 2-4 weeks.

But setting smaller goals which are more realistic, the more likely you are to achieve these and therefore increase your motivation and relationship with the gym.

This week I have set myself a couple of goals for the next few weeks which I’m hoping I can achieve in a month.

1. 90-100kg hip thrust
2. 200kg on leg press

Naked burrito 🌯

One of my faves for lunch/ meal preps-
- bbq pulled pork
- basmatti rice
- cucumber
- carrot
- sweetcorn

I did add lettuce when I forgot I hadn’t added it. And I added some 30ml sour cream to it also.

If you’re feeling extra cheeky and can add some cheese in your calories then go for it!

You can also substitute the pork for any meat or fish-
- chicken
- mince
- salmon
- tuna

And enjoy 😋

Monday legs-

Today was a heavy session. As much as it doesn’t look like much, my legs were shaking.

As I train legs 2x a week I sometimes mix it up to focus on compound movements and completing them with heavier reps etc in comparison to another leg session where I do more exercises with higher volume.

- 6x front squats SS 12x back squats
- barbell reverse lunges with added weight 20x3
- loaded leg press increasing weight x4 sets
- long period of stretching and foam rolling

I was quite happy first session back with the weights I was achieving. Managed 120kg on the loaded leg press which was my first time using that machine in comparison to the normal horizontal leg press. Aim is to hit 150kg in the next few weeks 🤌🏽

Organisation is key 🔑

One thing about myself, is I’m either really busy or have lots of time. When I’m busy and rushing around I never have anything ready and prepped to make quickly for lunches and dinners and therefore snack or eat food which isn’t the best for me.

So this year, I’m trying different ways to try help improve my nutrition.

I find prepping salad for the week ahead is a lot easier so that I can just spoon some out when needed. Hopefully this method of organisation helps me 🤞🏽

Lots of people think that sports therapists are just ‘sports masseuses’

As much as sports massages are an extremely useful treatment technique, there is a lot more to sports therapy.

Below is some examples of what we are qualified to do-

Here are some of my faves from

I really struggle with the nutritional side of things when it comes to healthy living. And the main thing I struggle with is protein intake.

Being able to buy protein in drink form makes it so much easier for me to hit my protein goal. So one of the things my friends made me purchase this year was these products to try encourage me to hit my targets.

Excited to try these out! And adding omega 3 into my vitamin intake this year 🤝

Late stage hamstring strain rehab-

- double leg RDL
- single leg RDL
- double leg glute bridges
- single leg glute bridges
- kettle bell swings

Make sure early and intermediate rehab is completed and cleared prior to moving onto late stage exercises to avoid further injury.

Basic lunch- chicken salad wrap 🐓🥒🥗

- wrap
- flame grilled chicken chunks
- cucumber
- lettuce
- sweetcorn
- 30g Philadelphia

It’s such a basic lunch, but with me having covid I haven’t had a huge appetite so this does the job.

Nice light bite to eat and low in calories.

Previous progress ✨

So a year ago, during lockdown, I really managed to focus on exercising and becoming more healthy.

When I was at uni, I put on a lot of weight… which don’t get me wrong, was fun at the time when I was partying and boozing all the time. However, it caused me to suffer mentally and physically as I was very unhappy with my body.

So I used lockdown to get shed the pounds and gain confidence and happiness again.

2022 is going to be a year to refine my body and get me into the most healthiest mindset and find consistency with in my training to maintain a body I feel comfortable in.

I have set myself some personal goals, which hopefully will help me stick to a healthy lifestyle.

Lamb and Aubergine curry- 596 cals 🍆🐑

1) Chop the aubergine, red onion and coriander. And grate the garlic.

2) Get the rice on to boil. Once boiled, turn down to simmer and cook.

3) Roast the aubergine in the oven with some oil and season with salt and pepper. (20-25 mins)

4) Start the curry but browning the mince with salt and pepper. Once browned, drain excess oil and add the onion for 3-4 mins. Stir in the garlic and North Indian spices and cook for 30s.

5) Add the chopped tomatoes with 50ml of water and a 1/2 tsp of sugar. Then add the chicken stock paste to the lam and bring to a boil. Once boiling, bring to a lower heat to simmer for 8-10 mins.

6) Once cooked, stir the aubergine in with the curry and mix the coriander in.

Serve and enjoy 🍆

My first workout of 2022 ✨

So unfortunately on the 31st myself and my friend tested positive for covid, so she moved into mine for isolation. Although we felt rough, we managed to movtivate eachother to do a little workout and here it is-

Split squat (12 per leg) / single leg hip thrust (10 per leg)

Single leg RDL (12 per leg) / weighted double leg hip thrust (x15)

Reverse lunges (10 per leg) / goblet squat (x15)

Banded hip abduction (x20) / fire hydrants (10 per leg)

We had to work with what we had in my flat, but it done the job. We struggled a lot with it due to covid an high heart rates and struggling to breath normally, but it was 50 minutes better than nothing.
