And it might finally make eating out feel safe again.

If you live gluten-free (or support someone who does), you’ll know the feeling:

It's designed for those in , by people who live and work in Surrey, it provides a space where everyone is free to speak and ask questions.

We all struggle at times and you will find we are very supportive.

Local knowledge helps us to grow, getting those little cafes, shops and products that are not well known into the Surrey domain, helps to make life that little bit easier.

🌾Hello Surrey Coeliacs UK Members! 🌾

We often talk about the importance of sticking to a gluten-free diet when you have coeliac disease, but do we know what happens if we don't? Let's delve into the risks and damage that can occur if you aren't vigilant.

1️⃣ Malnutrition: When your small intestine is damaged, you can't properly absorb nutrients. This can lead to deficiencies in vital vitamins and minerals, and conditions like anaemia and osteoporosis.

2️⃣ Gastrointestinal Issues: Consuming gluten can trigger symptoms like diarrhoea, bloating, and abdominal pain, making day-to-day life uncomfortable.

3️⃣ Increased Risk of Other Autoimmune Diseases: If you're coeliac and not maintaining a gluten-free diet, you're more likely to develop other autoimmune conditions like type 1 diabetes or thyroid disorders.

4️⃣ Fertility Issues: Poor nutrient absorption can lead to reproductive issues, affecting both men and women.

5️⃣ Neurological Effects: Some may experience 'brain fog,' headaches, and an increased risk of conditions like epilepsy and migraines.

6️⃣ Increased Cancer Risk: Over the long term, untreated coeliac disease ups your risk of certain types of gastrointestinal cancer.It's crucial to consult your healthcare provider for personalised advice.
