Today is World Diabetes Day, a reminder of the progress made and the work still to do.
November 14 marks the birthday of Sir Frederick Banting, co-discoverer of insulin in 192, a breakthrough that turned diabetes from a fatal diagnosis into a manageable condition.
More than 5 million people in the UK live with diabetes, yet myths persist.
Let’s set the record straight:
✅ Type 1 diabetes isn’t caused by lifestyle — it’s an autoimmune condition.
✅ Type 2 diabetes is complex — genetics, age, and other factors matter, not just sugar intake.
✅ People with diabetes can eat carbs and sugar — it’s about balance and monitoring, not total restriction.
✅ Diabetes is serious — without proper care, it can lead to heart disease, kidney damage, and sight loss.
This World Diabetes Day, let’s share knowledge and compassion.

This month is dedicated to raising awareness of one of the most challenging cancers to detect and treat. Pancreatic cancer often shows few symptoms in its early stages, which is why awareness and early recognition are so important.

Common symptoms can include:

Persistent back or stomach pain
Unexpected weight loss
Loss of appetite
Jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes)
Digestive changes

By talking about pancreatic cancer, we can help more people recognise the signs and seek medical advice sooner — and help drive greater understanding and research for the future.

Wear purple to show your support, spark awareness, and remember those touched by pancreatic cancer.🎗️💜

Kindness doesn’t have to be grand gestures — it’s often found in the small, everyday moments that make someone’s day a little easier.
A genuine thank you. A helping hand. A few kind words. 🫶

In a world that can feel rushed and demanding, taking time to show kindness to others and to ourselves can have a powerful ripple effect.

Let’s make space for empathy, patience, and understanding today… and every day.

Veg Pledge
Take the Veg Pledge this November! 🌱
An inspiring initiative from Cancer Research UK, the Veg Pledge encourages us to go meat-free for the month, or simply to add more veg-based meals to our week.
Making small changes to our diet can have a big impact:
💚 For your health: Eating more vegetables can help boost energy, support digestion, lower cholesterol, and even reduce the risk of certain cancers and heart disease.
🌎 For the planet: Choosing more plant-based foods helps cut down on emissions, conserve water, and reduce the pressure on our environment.

You don’t have to be perfect — every veggie meal makes a difference! Whether you’re trying Meat-Free Mondays, swapping a few dinners, or going fully plant-based for the month, you’re doing something good for yourself and the world around you. 🌍

Let’s support each other, share our favourite veggie recipes, and show that small changes really do add up. 🥗

Today, we pause to remember and honour all those who gave their lives in service — and those who continue to serve our country.

At the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, we take a moment of silence to reflect on the courage, sacrifice, and hope of those who fought for peace and freedom.

Armistice Day is a time to come together in gratitude — to remember not only those who served in the past, but also the families and communities who stood behind them.

Lest we forget. ❤️ 🙏

This week, communities across the country are coming together to shine a light on kindness, respect, and standing up for one another. The theme “Power for Good” reminds us that each of us has the ability to make a positive difference, no matter how big or small our actions may seem. 💫
Bullying can happen anywhere — at school, at work, online, or even in our neighbourhoods. It can leave lasting effects on confidence, wellbeing, and connection. But when we choose empathy, speak up for others, and offer kindness, we can help create a community where everyone feels safe and supported. 💖
Let’s use this week to:
💬 Talk openly about bullying and its impact.
🤝 Encourage kindness, inclusion, and understanding.
💪 Remind one another that standing together makes us stronger.
Together, we can use our Power for Good to make a real difference. 🫶

This month isn't just about growing epic moustaches (though let's be honest, that's pretty fun). Movember is about starting conversations that can save lives.
Men are facing a silent health crisis. Prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health challenges are claiming thousands of lives each year, but many men still aren't seeking help or talking about their health.
Here's how you can help:
✅ Grow a mo, raise awareness, start conversations
✅ Move for mental health - commit to 60km this month (for the 60 men we lose to su***de each hour globally)
✅ Host an event to bring people together
✅ Donate to support men's health programmes
The moustache is just the conversation starter.
The real goal? Getting men to open up about their health, book that doctor's appointment they've been putting off, and check in on their mates.

When you live with psoriasis, it's not always just about managing your skin.
Sometimes one condition can lead to another, creating a ripple effect that impacts your overall health and wellbeing.

The domino effect might include:

- Joint pain that develops years after skin symptoms appear
- Feeling constantly tired, even after a full night's sleep
- Changes to your mental health and emotional wellbeing
- Other health challenges that emerge over time

Understanding these connections helps you stay ahead. It means you can spot warning signs early, have more informed conversations with your healthcare team, and get the support you need for your whole health - not just your skin.
Knowledge is power. The more we understand about how psoriatic disease affects our bodies, the better we can advocate for comprehensive care that treats the whole person.
This World Psoriasis Day, let's raise awareness about the full impact of living with psoriatic disease and ensure everyone gets the holistic support they deserve.
