At no time did the process ever feel rushed, the handover from department to department was efficient and there was no time lag in between. Mount Alvernia Hospital was founded in 1935 by a group of Franciscan Sisters, originally built as a small nursing home. 90 years on, the hospital has seen many developments, and we celebrated the 90th anniversary with a tea party.

Staff were invited to the hospital restaurant to enjoy a selection of cakes, sandwiches, and scones. We were pleased to be joined by some previous staff members and a group of the Franciscan Sisters who ran the hospital for over 50 years. For the staff unable to attend, a trolley toured the hospital with cakes, sandwiches, donuts, and scones.

It was a lovely celebration of our staff, past and present, and a time to reflect on Mount Alvernia’s 90-year legacy within the Guildford community.
