Our very own PJ in the Daily Mail today.

Just 24 hours after touching down in Britain, the latest Mail Force charity airlift was already reaching the NHS frontline yesterday. The message from the recipients was clear - 'Thanks a million'.

Visiting Suspended with immediate effect

Following the most recent national guidance, the public will no longer be able to visit patients in hospital.

This is a further measure to help restrict the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) and to protect both our patients and staff.

A drop off-service to allow family and friends to bring in items for relatives has been put in place and will be available tomorrow (26/3/20). The drop off advice line will be available 9am-12noon Monday - Saturday. Further advice will be provided when you speak to the call operator. To call the line, the number is 07979540102.

Exceptions where visitors are still allowed are as follows:
•If the patient is receiving end-of-life care
•If the visitor is a birthing partner
•Visitors are still allowed on paediatrics and neonatal areas but only one parent or appropriate adult is able to be with their child at any given time.

Wards must be contacted in advance to make arrangements for your visit under these circumstances.

These essential visitors as listed above must adhere to the following:
•Only one visitor per patient per day
•Children are not permitted to visit
•Visits to only take place between 3pm-4pm
•Anyone with cold or flu symptoms, persistent cough or raised temperature must not visit.

These new measures are effective immediately.

Congratulations to our fabulous hardworking Supply Chain team.

This week’s team of the week is the Healthcare Partners Limited (HPL) Materials Management team. They have been nominated for going ‘above and beyond’ in ensuring the provision of stocks for Coronavirus.

The team consists of 11 members of staff who work towards ensuring the availability and supply of consumables across the Trust.

Alf Turner, Managing Director of HPL said: “Coronavirus is this team’s primary focus right now ensuring that Trust staff have all the necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) for dealing with the Coronavirus.

“This includes masks, gowns, gloves, sanitisers, and swabs for patients (which are normally supplied by Pathology) where there are emerging national issues caused by the high use of such products.”

To date, the team have successfully managed stocks levels and deployed these essential supplies to the special POD the Trust has set up and our Emergency Department which are dealing with Coronavirus at the front line as well as all other clinical areas.

They are a prime example of a team responding to a challenging situation under positive leadership.
