Firstly, you are not broken - your brain and body are under pressure.

Are you tired of trying to deal with everything alone? Feeling like nobody understands? I can help you.

“When self-doubt makes you rewrite the email… five times… then read it again just in case.”

Sound familiar?

Self-doubt often shows up as overthinking — checking, rewriting, second-guessing and worrying about how something might be perceived. It can make even small tasks feel mentally exhausting.

What’s actually happening in the brain is that the threat system becomes overactive.

The brain’s alarm centre, the Amygdala, starts scanning for potential social threats like criticism, rejection or “getting it wrong.”

At the same time, the rational planning part of the brain — the Prefrontal Cortex — gets caught in a loop of analysing and re-analysing the situation.

The result?
• rewriting messages
• worrying how you sound
• delaying sending things
• feeling mentally drained by simple communication

The reassuring part is that this pattern is learned, which means it can also be unlearned. When the brain feels calmer and safer, decisions and communication become much easier.

So if you’ve ever stared at an email thinking “Does this sound okay?” for far too long… you’re definitely not the only one.
