Why do we do so many events?

“Why…” 😢

Because showing up matters.
Because being part of the community matters.
Because helping people move better doesn’t only happen inside the clinic.

And because somehow… we keep saying yes…

Lower backs were the main character .

We asked our physios what they treated most and the answer was almost unanimous: lower back, lower back, and… lower back again.

Those ATHX deadlifts clearly made an impression. Strong lifts, but not everyone’s tissues got the memo.

If your back is suddenly reminding you it exists, you’re not alone.

Mike and Niamh at ATHX last weekend.

Before: calm, focused, pretending it’s just another day.
During: lungs on fire, legs questioning life choices.
After: empty tanks, big smiles, job done.

Just a heads up! We are moving to the Pabau software (from Fresha) for all our bookings!

Luckily there is nothing you need to do! But you may notice your appointment notifications and our online booking system look a little different. It will be the same smooth experience.

Hard-hitting journalism at the event:
Everyone said Sam…
Sam said Dan and Kane.
Erin backed herself.
Make of that what you will.

In running, more miles don’t just test your fitness 🏃‍♂️they stress your tissues.

As mileage goes up, so does the chance of overload, irritation, and injury. That’s not bad luck, it’s biology 🧬

Most running niggles don’t appear out of nowhere. They sometimes begin as stiffness, “tightness,” soreness that hangs around, little changes in how you move.

The mistake isn’t doing more. It’s doing more without adjusting load, recovery, strength, or technique. Small issues addressed early are usually simple. Small issues ignored tend to get complicated.

If you feel something brewing, don’t wait for it to shout. A quick check, smarter training, and the right rehab can keep you running longer, stronger, and with fewer forced breaks. 🏃‍♂️

Rehab can be easy 🙌

But..

It’s hard to fit into real life. Work, family, stress, tiredness, and simple forgetfulness all get in the way 😕

It’s also be confusing 🤷
How much should you do? Is this pain okay? Should you stop or keep going?

What makes rehab effective isn’t perfection. It’s small, repeated efforts, clear guidance, and knowing you don’t have to figure it out alone

Progress rarely looks neat. It’s messy, uneven, and human. But with the right plan, it can be done

17/01/2026

You’re not wrong for stopping when it hurts✅

That’s a normal human response. Pain is designed to make you pause

But staying stuck there isn’t the goal 😕

With the right guidance, gentle, well-chosen discomfort can be part of recovery, not a setback

That’s where seeing a physio matters. Not to push through pain blindly, but to help you understand what’s safe, what’s helpful, and how to rebuild capacity without fear.

Good rehab isn’t about fixing a broken body.
It’s about restoring confidence, strength, and tolerance step by step.

If 2026 is about resilience, it starts here 💪

Jake is a Chartered Physiotherapist based in Collier Row, specialising in musculoskeletal rehabilitation, injury recovery, and performance-focused care. He helps people get out of pain, move better, and return confidently to the activities they enjoy — whether that’s sport, training, or everyday life.

Jake’s clinical background spans both acute hospital care and private practice, including work on acute stroke wards and within neurological rehabilitation at Queen’s Hospital, where he also supported ICU teams during the COVID-19 pandemic. This experience has shaped his highly thorough, evidence-based approach to assessment and treatment, ensuring no detail is overlooked.

He later worked as a neurological stroke and injury rehabilitation physiotherapist in Essex, delivering intensive, personalised therapy in patients’ homes. Jake now brings this same high standard of care into the private sector across Essex and London, applying complex clinical expertise to effective, results-driven MSK rehabilitation.

Outside the clinic, Jake enjoys golf, boxing, and strength training, and has a strong interest in biomechanics and athletic movement. He continuously studies how the body moves — from everyday mechanics to athletic movement — to help his clients recover efficiently, improve performance, and reduce the risk of future injury.

If you’re looking for a physiotherapist who combines clinical precision with a practical, goal-focused approach, Jake is passionate about helping you move and perform at your best.

Let’s start this year with some good hip movement.

Quick demonstration of call assessing and rehabbing Freddie’s tight hip.

Give this exercise a try and tell us how it feels!
