TMJ Pain can affect anyone at any age.
Symptoms include: jaw pain, headaches, earaches, clicking or popping noises when chewing or moving your jaw, difficulty opening or closing your mouth, and changes to your bite. You may also experience facial pain, tenderness, jaw locking, dizziness, or ringing in your ears (tinnitus).
There are many causes of this condition, but common ones include direct injuries to the jaw, teeth grinding (bruxism), jaw misalignment, arthritis, stress, and poor posture, which can strain jaw muscles. Sometimes, the exact cause is unclear, but it can result from a combination of these factors or issues like the TMJ disc moving out of place.
Chiropractic can help get the joint moving more smoothly by realigning the joint, relaxing the muscles and retraining the opening of the jaw to become smoother and pain free. In our clinics we are also lucky to be able to offer laser therapy for the jaw (the same as some top dental practices!)
