We're incredibly proud to have recently launched our 2024 Annual Report, showcasing our year of progress, achievements and the real impact on the lives of the people we support.

Today, we spotlight Christina's story, one of many inspiring stories shared in our recent annual report.

🌟 Christina: An Inspiring ‘Expert by Experience’ 🌟

We’re delighted to share Christina's story, a remarkable person we support through our Accomplish Supported Living Service, and her transformative journey from lived experience to leadership in staff training.

A few years ago, while completing a pre-health assessment questionnaire, Christina was asked: 💬 “Is there anything more you would like to discuss with your GP?"

Her thoughtful response sparked something special:
💬 “I wonder if they are aware of hidden disabilities and how this affects people.”

Christina lives with Dyspraxia, a hidden disability that often goes unnoticed. Her lived experience and insight led to an important realisation - support staff could benefit significantly from understanding disability from the perspective of those they support.

With the encouragement of her support team and Sam Kelly's engagement with Learning & Development team proposing Christina's involvement in staff training, and after several discussions, Christina explored her role in delivering NAPP (Non-Abusive Psychological and Physical Intervention) training, co-delivering the “green sections” focused on creating a caring community, productivity, and high-quality relaxation.

From completing staff inductions to confidently speaking in front of groups, Christina has embraced her role with determination, enthusiasm and dedication. Her independence is championed every step of the way, including fully supported travel so she can attend sessions.

🐾 Pawsitively Proud at College Fields ✨

Sharing some good news stories: One of the amazing people we support at College Fields has just completed their first volunteer dog walk at a local rescue centre - and it was a huge success!

Having never walked a dog before, they approached the experience with care, patience, and a real eagerness to learn. Their calm, thoughtful manner and respect for each dog’s boundaries truly impressed everyone.

Staff at College Fields couldn’t be prouder of this achievement and are excited to see the person we support continue growing in confidence through his rewarding new role. 🌟

💬 JA’s Journey to Independence ✨

When JA first moved into Bayview Lodge, he experienced high levels of anxiety, relying on PRN medication daily. With consistent, tailored support, JA gradually engaged in new activities, from playing board games and helping with cooking to travelling by train for the first time. His PRN medication use has now reduced significantly, and he enjoys independent decision-making and social engagement.

JA’s progress highlights the impact of structured, personalised support.

Could Bayview Lodge be the next step for someone you support?
