Upbeat Mums is a programme for pregnant ladies who are overweight with a Body Mass Index of 30+ at the end of their first trimester. We offer a friendly supportive environment working together with midwives to provide a safe and effective exercise and healthy lifestyle sessions specific for pregnancy. Upbeat Families is a programme for children, young people and families where they can take part in FUN physical activities and healthy lifestyle sessions. We offer a friendly supportive environement to build self esteem and confidence for the young people when trying new activities and encouraging small lifestyle changes. The physical activity sessions include activities such as zumba, dodgeball, ultimate frisbee and many more. The healthy lifestyle sessions encourage healthier alternatives, offers the families tips to help them make small steps for change including topics around breakfast, sugar in drinks, the balance of good health, takeaways and eating out. Upbeat Adults is a programme that offers exercise and weight loss sessions for people who are overweight with a BMI over 30, coronary heart disease, diabetes and people 'at risk' of cardiovascular disease. The exercise sessions include a gentle warm up followed by circuit based or aerobic activities designed to improve your circulation, balance and strength finishing with some stretches and relaxation. Each person is encouraged to work at their own pace and lebel throught the exercise sessions. The weight loss sessions encourage lifestyle changes rather than a diet and cover a range of topics including portion size, fats and sugars. During the 10 weeks you will also have the opportunity to attend walking groups, exercise to music sessions, swimming and fitness gyms within the Calderdale Council Leisure Centres. Upbeat Next Steps Classes offer a range of exercises run by our Upbeat instructors. We can offer more free exercise plus exercise at a reduced rate; more details will be given once you have completed a course.
