My Physio - Hipperholme

In light of last nights announcement I will have to close for the next 3-weeks.

I hope that this timescale will see a deceleration in cases/deaths relating to the Virus, and the Government relax these measures for businesses to begin to reopen.

Though 3-weeks might be optimistic.

It's the responsible thing to do for the health and safety of all my clients and their families.

And the fact I have 2 young children and one pregnant wife at home!

I will be in touch as soon as I am in a position to open!

🔹️🔹️ Ankle sprains - The Domino Effect 🔹️🔹️

🔸️I would always recommend treatment for an ankle sprain, especially if you are sporty/active.

🔹️Pain is most peoples marker for recovery. Despite an ankle sprain injury no longer being painful does NOT mean ankle stiffness/muscle imbalances have improved.

🔸️Left untreated these dysfunctions increase your chances of having knee/hip/lower back issues - The Domino Effect

🔹️The before/after photos are from 3 days post ankle sprain injury and first treatment session, to 2-weeks after first session

Scans for MSK conditions - be wary of the 'asymptomatic' statistics - we are not genetically the same

🔸️Many factors would inform the clinical decision to refer someone for an MRI scan, Ultrasound scan or CT scan for a Musculoskeletal condition.

🔹️Scans of asymptomatic people - reporting no pain - have shown some to have the Musculoskeletal conditions shown in the image below.

Despite this, we are not genetically the same.

🔸️Most people have sufficient space in their shoulders or spine where certain body structures can narrow spaces in these areas.

🔹️Thus, if they have bursal thickening in the shoulder they dont get symptoms as they have sufficient Subacromial space above the shoulder joint.

🔸️If they have a disc bulge or disc degeneration, but their spinal canal for their spinal cord is wide and the foraminal openings around their spinal nerves are wide they may not develop symptoms.

🔹️However, those not lucky enough genetically are far more likely to develop symptoms including reporting pain.

🔸️Physiotherapy treatment can help people recover from many of the MSK conditions in the image below.

🔹️However️, for those that dont recover with Conservative treatment the route to a scan - that may lead to an injection or surgery - should not be denied based on 'asymptomatic statistics'.

A sceptic, now a believer!
A case of the disappearing pelvis crease!

This lady was suffering with Lower Back Pain, she like many thought it was just how it was going to be.

After much coercion from her partner she decided to book in for a Physio assessment.

It was a surprise to her when she saw the photos of her spinal/pelvic alignment.

On the Left photo, it is clear that her lower spine isn't straight, her pelvis isn't level and she has a Right pelvic crease line.

After her 1st treatment, the R pelvic crease had gone, her pelvis was more level and her lower spine was straighter. Her ARMS were also hanging more relaxed to her sides.

At the start of her 2nd session she reported having significant reduction in Lower back pain and greater flexibility.

My Physio - Hipperholme

Case study patient who attended for Physiotherapy 6 days post surgery. It can be seen how rapidly the swelling and bruising of the thigh reduced within 9-days of the first treatment. Also, it shows how the scar lines healed quickly using the treatment method - Connective Tissue Massage.

Connective tissue surrounds every muscle and courses through every muscle, from skin depth to bone depth.

Connective tissue massage is a very effective method by which release of these soft tissue layers can rapidly improve post surgical recovery. Also, it can be used to treat many Musculoskeletal conditions of the spine, muscles and peripheral joints.

Direct Message for an appointment for an MSK condition or post surgery rehab.

My Physio - Hipperholme

Cycloidal vibration therapy (also known as Equissoidal Massage)

My mum is the case example, she managed to cause a big bleed after an impact to the back of her lower hamstring. She is on Warfarin which affects her blood clotting.

The first photo is 4-days post impact trauma. There is a small haematoma underneath the bruising that has left some local scar tissue that needs work on.

So far we have aimed to reduce the bruising, reduce pain and improve walking/weightbearing. It was only 6-days between the 1st and 3rd photo, (day 4 and day 10 post impact injury) and only 2 treatments with the Equissoidal Massager.

As can be seen there has been a significant improvement in the bruising in a very short timescale. Her pain levels are much improved and her weightbearing/stride length when walking have improved significantly.

This would not have occurred without such treatment, especially on someone taking blood thinning medication.

My Physio 'a step closer towards your recovery'

Not all physios assess the same, not all physios treat the same. There can be great variability even in the Private sector.

When I've seen patients wanting a second opinion, many have not had an explanation as to the underlying cause of their problem or a clear diagnosis.

At My Physio I would expect you to leave an initial assessment with:

▪︎a clear diagnosis of your presenting problem

▪︎ a clear understanding as to the underlying CAUSE of why a problem has started if it was gradual in its onset and not a specific injury/known condition

▪︎ a clear treatment plan of what physiotherapy can provide and what you would benefit from doing to aid your recovery

▪︎onward referral for an X-ray/Scan or for Orthopaedic opinion should Physiotherapy not be indicated

You can self refer for an appointment by mobile, email or FB messenger
