✨ Big energy yesterday! ✨
Our team, partners, and incredible community came together to welcome Heather McLean, Director of Communities & Systems Partnerships at Macmillan.

We shared the real impact of our work — powerful stories, real change, and why this project must continue. 💚

The room was buzzing with passion, pride, and purpose. Everyone left reminded of one thing: this work matters, and we’re just getting started.

Had an amazing time at our chat and chai soap-making session! 🍵🧼 The ladies crafted beautiful organic soaps, like lavender and honey, perfect for the skin. It was such a lovely session, and everyone enjoyed making their own skincare treats! ✨

We’re proud to share that our very own Sarah Thorne Powell was featured on BBC Radio Leeds last Thursday as part of NHS Health Day on the Rima Ahmed Morning Show.
Sarah spoke about the Calderdale Cancer Aware Project and the vital work our team is doing across the borough to help raise awareness of cancer, encourage people to recognise signs and symptoms early, and support communities to access the right information and services.
It’s fantastic to see our team’s work being highlighted on such a well-known platform — helping to spread important health messages and reach even more people in our community.

A huge well done to Sarah for representing the project so brilliantly, and thank you to BBC Radio Leeds for shining a spotlight on this important work! 💛

Waking you up each weekday morning, it's Rima Ahmed.

🌸 Park Ward Breast Screening 🌸

Breast screening helps find breast cancer early, when treatment is most effective. Women are invited for breast screening every 3 years from the age of 50.

If you are aged 50–71 and registered with a GP, you will receive your breast screening invitation by post.

Some women living in Central Halifax and Park Ward will be due for screening in January 2026.

If you receive an invitation, please try to attend – and encourage your mothers, sisters, aunties, friends, and neighbours to go too. Your support can make a big difference 💕

📅 Breast Screening Day – 17th January
🕛 12pm – 3pm
📍 Asda Car Park

This is a friendly drop-in session where you can:
Ask questions
Have a chat in a relaxed setting
Get gentle advice about breast screening

👩‍⚕️ All staff will be female, and the Calderdale Cancer Aware team will be there to support you. Help with translation into different languages will also be available.

⚠️ Important: If you notice any breast changes, pain, or symptoms, do not wait for your screening appointment. Please contact your GP or a health professional as soon as possible.
