Rachel had the pleasure of addressing the congregation of 150 people alongside Reverend Hillary and deputy Mayor Geraldine Carter

As Hilary said, the church faces the topic of life and death every day, so if we can't confront these topics in this setting then where can we?

We had a frank conversation that gave permission for the congregation to consider this topic within the real of their faith. Rachel spoke candidly that the reason our team exists is due to late stage diagnosis locally and that collectively on a community level we can improve this. Geraldine spoke from the heart about her cancer journey, so we displayed both ends of the spectrum during our discussion

Since delivering this, the outpouring of comments, messages and interest into how we can improve this further has been astounding

This shows we are needed and that the community want to support each other in improving outcomes

It was a pleasure to attend the 2nd day of Solace Summit and have a stall with Alison Haskins to promote the wonderful work we do here at Halifax Opportunities Trust

It was great to hear from 2 key note speakers and discuss some really poignant societal issues. It was also a great network opportunity where I was able to learn from other organisations, share a but about the work of my wonderful team, as well as sell some jam for our fabulous The Outback Community Kitchen & Garden

We are looking forward to joining the congregation at Halifax Minster this Sunday as they remember St Luke, who was not only an Apostle and an Evangelist, but a physician.

We support the message of healing and encouraging Calderdale to be a healthy place! We thank Canon Reverand Hilary for championing this message and look forward to joining the congregation at 10:30 on Sunday 19th October. Please do come and and chat to us!

Much of Jesus ministry was concerned with healing the sick, going from village to village and town to town, healing people with all kinds of illness, be it leprosy, blindness, ev...
