Celebrating our latest cohort of Cancer Champions! 🌟

We are so proud to have recently trained 8 incredible individuals—a fantastic mix of staff and volunteers—from Age Concern Todmorden .

Age Concern does vital work supporting some of the most vulnerable members of our community—people who are often "seldom heard" yet frequently the most affected by health inequalities.

By becoming Cancer Champions, these eight legends are now even better equipped to:

Open up conversations about cancer in a way that is supportive and accessible.
Raise awareness of early signs and symptoms.

Encourage screening uptake among those who might otherwise feel overlooked.

A huge thank you to our new champions for their dedication to improving lives and ensuring no one faces cancer alone or unheard.

We are looking for South Asian & Black women living with metastatic breast cancer to share their stories. Your experiences can help improve support and resources for women in our communities.

🏆 WE WON! 🏆

The CCA team has had an incredible time at the National Macmillan Conference at the Birmingham ICC! 🎤✨ We’ve been busy learning, networking, and spreading the word about everything we do.

A huge shoutout to our very own Ilyas, who spoke on the panel and was a total shining star! 🌟

The highlight of the trip? We are coming home with the Community Impact Award! 🥇 But honestly, this trophy isn’t just for us. It belongs to every single person who supports our vision—from our amazing community members and hardworking staff to our partner organisations. 🤝❤️

You know who you are! This win is for ALL of us. Well done, team! 🎉🙌

What a wonderful and uplifting morning out today!

We really felt the impact of this and cant wait to spread the model by uplifting and upskilling local women in Calderdale

Putting our women first, encouraging health through safe spaces, and through providing us with important life skills is key. Sprinkle in a splash of health and you have a recipe for magic! That's what BollyFit H24 do and we can't wait to work with them

What a beautiful session today ❤️

We had the pleasure of welcoming Rachel and her team from Calderdale, along with some amazing women from their community, to experience a Bollyfit session here in Manchester.

And honestly… the energy spoke for itself.
Our session starts at 10:00am,
but by 9:35am women had already arrived,
and by 9:50am we were FULL and had to close the doors.

This is what happens when women feel comfortable, safe and excited to come.
Today wasn’t just about fitness.
It was about: ✨ connection
✨ confidence
✨ women supporting each other
✨ creating space to talk about our health

Rachel and the women didn’t just attend — they felt the impact.
And the most exciting part…

👉 They now want to take this model back to Calderdale to support women in their own community.

This is how change happens.
Women supporting women.
Communities learning from each other.
So proud of every single woman who showed up today 💛

This is bigger than a session.
This is a movement.

Well done Hina 💜

A huge congratulations to Hina for completing her training as a Cancer Champion with Calderdale Cancer Aware

This fantastic initiative focuses on raising awareness, encouraging early detection and helping people access support sooner.

Hina is also one of our cancer rehabilitation physiotherapists, working alongside Amie — so this additional training will help us support our cancer patients even more, both clinically and through wider awareness and guidance.

Cancer Champions play an important role in:
✔ Encouraging open conversations about cancer
✔ Breaking down fear and stigma
✔ Signposting to the right support and services

Celebrating unity and diversity at the Culture in Colours event! 💖 It was a vibrant gathering of women from different communities, each proudly showcasing their heritage in stunning traditional attire. Beyond the beauty, we came together to raise awareness about various cancers, sharing vital info on signs, symptoms, and the importance of early detection. A truly inspiring day of culture, connection, and empowerment! ✨

Mount Pellon Primary Academy have taken a proactive approach to engaging with their wonderful community by asking their parents what they want

The answer? Engagement to promote early cancer diagnosis and those with a diagnosis

They host regular coffee mornings and do a lot to raise awareness. We joined them yesterday to deliver in local languages, and we have lots of joint work coming up in the future
