There are many areas throughout our trust and in the community where our teams support Children, Young People and their families .

At the beginning of the month we had a lovely donation of advent calendars from Finley and his parents.

Finley has a rare auto immune disorder called Eosinophillic Esophagitis (EoE). As a baby he was very sick and spent a lot of time in hospital, some of it being over Christmas. Finley's mum and dad started collecting and donating Advent Calendars as a yearly tradition for the children who have to spend time in hospital over Christmas like Finley.

On Sunday we had a lovely gift donation from Isaac. Isaac likes to come every year using the money he has fundraised to buy toys and gifts for children and young people who end up in hospital over Christmas 🎄 Each year he sets himself a goal on how much he would like to raise - last year he managed to raise a fantastic £700, so this year he decided to aim to raise £750. He only went and smashed that goal by raising an AMAZING £900! 👏🏽🌟🎉 Well done Isaac from us all on the Children's Ward and thank you for your yearly visit. We love to see you and catch up on how you are doing.

On Friday we had a lovely visit from Alice, her sister and some of her friends. They have been fundraising for some toys and resources to be used by children and young people with additional needs who end up having a stay on our ward. We always struggle sourcing and providing these types of resources so these are very much appreciated. Thank you Alice and mum Gail for providing us with these 🌟 They even came with an extra elf helper, who they hid somewhere on the ward for another child to find!

Yesterday we had a very special visitor come to the Children's Ward 🎅 Children, parents and staff were all very excited to see Santa Blake once again this year. There were plenty of smiles and Christmas cheer all around 🎄🎁

A fabulous visit from the Huddersfield Giants to the Children's Ward yesterday 🏉 Many thanks to Matty, Sam, Tom and Connor for taking the time out of their busy schedule to visit and their kind donation of gifts to distribute over Christmas 🌟 Thank you for your generosity. There were lots of smiles and delighted fans all around.

A huge thank you to the amazing ISS team in the retail department at Calderdale Royal Hospital, who have donated a wonderful selection of gifts to our Give a Gift Appeal. 🎁💛

Instead of doing a Secret Santa this year, the team bought some Christmas gifts to help us make sure that children spending Christmas in hospital wake up to a present.

Thank you so much to Jane and Luke Sugden who visited the ward on Saturday to donate toys and gifts for our patients to commemorate their son Albie on the week that would have been Albie's fifth birthday.
We are truly grateful for your generosity and for thinking about us and allowing the ward to provide fun and enhance our patient's experience whilst they are in hospital with us.

All funds raised will go towards resources for the Play Team to continue to provide therapeutic play to children and young people in hospital and the community.
