It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Lord John Alston Maxton, who died peacefully on Thursday 20th November, aged 89.

Beloved husband, father, grandfather of Christine, Jamie, Michael, Richard, Ruby Gabriella and Anna.

The funeral service will take place at South Lanarkshire Crematorium on Thursday 11th December at 11am. After the funeral service all are warmly invited to join the family at Hamilton Rugby Club for refreshments.

Family and friends are welcome to attend and celebrate John’s life.
Family flowers only. Donations may be made to Dementia Scotland in memory of John.

Funeral Arrangements for Susanne Orr (McCabe)

On behalf of the family we can confirm the funeral arrangements for Susanne Orr.
Susanne’s Requiem Mass will take place on Thursday 13th November 2025, 10am at St Patrick’s RC Church, Shieldmuir Street, Wishaw ML2 7TH thereafter to Cambusnethan Cemetery, Kirk Road Wishaw, ML2 8NP for the committal to which all family and friends are respectfully invited

Life is short. Best not to get bothered, get vexed or angry about anything. Try not to worry and enjoy yaself, be happy, wear ace sunglasses. My dad passed away when he was 47. I didn’t realise how young he was at the time. He would’ve been 78 today! I’ve got more greys/ whites on my head and chin than I ever saw my dad have. Laugh, have fun, make memories! “Never mind what everyone else is up to, you focus on you” ! That’s what my dad told me. Best advice anyone ever gave me. Wish he’d have gave those sunglasses! Cool dad x
