International Stress Awareness Week - Day 5 🤯

We’ve reached the final steps of the Stress Risk Assessment, where action turns into lasting improvement.

Today we focus on Step 4 and Step 5:

✅ Step 4 - Record your findings
Document the key stressors identified, the actions taken, and how you’ve addressed each risk. Recording your process not only ensures compliance , it also shows your commitment to employee wellbeing.

✅ Step 5 - Monitor and review
Stress management isn’t a tick box or one-time exercise. For things to improve, you must regularly review what’s working, what isn’t, and what’s changed in your organisation. This ongoing process helps you to continuously keep improving and sustain a healthy, supportive workplace culture.

A well-documented and regularly reviewed Stress Risk Assessment doesn’t just tick a box, it builds trust, accountability, and a genuine focus on wellbeing.

International Stress Awareness Week - Day 4 🤯

Two of the most powerful tools for reducing stress at work are also the ones that empower your people the most: Support and Control.

✅ Support: ensuring employees feel valued, listened to, and backed by both colleagues and management. When people know help is available, stress becomes more manageable.

✅ Control: giving individuals more say in how they carry out their work. When employees have autonomy and ownership, they feel more capable, and less pressured.

Together, Support and Control create a foundation of trust and empowerment that directly reduces workplace stress and improves overall wellbeing.

This is exactly why we do what we do 💚

Stories like this remind us of the real impact of first aid training - not just in the classroom, but in those critical moments when it truly matters.

A huge well done to Debbie and Tyler from Asda for stepping in with such calmness and confidence to help a colleague in need. Your quick thinking, skills and care made all the difference 👏

We’re extremely proud to support Asda stores across the UK with essential First Aid training, giving people the knowledge and confidence to act when it matters most!

Together. Saving lives. 🟢

Only two days after completing her first aid training, Debbie from our Sittingbourne store was called to do CPR on bakery colleague Tara who'd collapsed with an angina attack.

Debbie was helped by fellow first aider 19-year-old Tyler, who calmly relayed advice and instructions to her from a 999 call handler. Tara said: "I'd like to say a massive thank you to them both for what they did on that day. If it wasn't for them I don't know what would have happened. Having first aiders in the store is just so important. I was putting cookies on a shelf and all of a sudden I got a pain in my chest, going down my arm and I just blacked out. I don't remember much of it at all."

Tara spent 17 days in Medway Hospital where she underwent various tests and scans. She's now back at work, but is on medication. Debbie said: "I passed my first aid training on the Thursday and Tara's episode was on the Saturday – two days later! I wasn't expected to use that part of my training. I thought I'd just be doing cuts, grazes, burns that sort of thing. When I was doing the compressions I was actually crying as it was so upsetting as I've known Tara for a long time. I'm just glad that she was okay."

Both Debbie and Tyler have been nominated for Asda service superstar awards for their actions. Asda Sittingbourne store manager Shah said: "I'm incredibly proud of both Debbie and Tyler for stepping in and administering CPR. Their calm and decisive actions were a testament to their training and compassion and we are all grateful and proud for their efforts to help our colleague."

International Stress Awareness Week - Day 3 🤯

We’ve identified who may be harmed and evaluated the risks, now it’s time for action!

Today’s focus is on Strategic Stress Management: taking meaningful steps to reduce workplace stress and build long-term resilience across your organisation.

Stress management isn’t just about reacting to problems, it’s about preventing them through thoughtful planning, effective leadership, and continuous improvement.

International Stress Awareness Week - Day 2 🤯

Yesterday, we asked: 'Do you have a Stress Risk Assessment in place?' and in the video we looked at the 6 stress management standards.

Today, we’re moving on to Steps 2 and 3 of the process:

✅ Step 2 - Decide who may be harmed and how
Understanding who is at risk is essential. Consider all roles, departments, and individuals. Including those who may be more vulnerable to stress, such as new starters, remote workers, or those in high-pressure positions.

✅ Step 3 - Evaluate the risks
Once you know who could be affected, assess how serious those risks are. Identify what’s already in place to manage stress, and what more needs to be done to reduce it.

Together, building a safer, healthier workplace. 🟢

International Stress Awareness Week 🤯

This week marks International Stress Awareness Week 2025, and at Green Cross Global, we’ll be sharing daily insights, tools, and practical guidance to help you manage stress in the workplace, to help support your teams’ health, safety, and wellbeing.

Do you have a Stress Risk Assessment in place?
In the UK, it’s a legal requirement for all businesses to have one, but many organisations still overlook it. All organisations have a legal requirement to look after their employees physical and mental safety in the workplace.
