Free slippers! 'Why?', we hear you ask....
1 in 3 people over the age of 65 experience a fall every year. The most common reason for an ambulance being called to an older person is because they have had a fall.
The Community Builder team at Rainbow Services want to reduce the number of falls in the Harlow community. Working with Princess Alexandra Hospital, PAH and many other local organisations and charities, Rainbow Services are hosting an Ageing Well event on Wednesday
19 November at the GPCA on Abercrombie Way. Between 10:30am and 3pm, the doors will be
open for a free informal drop-in where 30 stall holders will be waiting to speak with the Harlow retired and semi-retired community, letting them know how to keep safe at home, as well as support and activities they run locally. There will be speakers throughout the day and also some
seated exercise sessions.
Thanks to funding from Harlow Council, Rainbow Services will also be giving away FREE slippers! Poor balance and unsafe flimsy footwear are just one contributing factor to a fall at
home. The team will be giving away limited numbers of men and women’s slippers with a sturdy sole, backs and safe Velcro straps to try to prevent falls.
Please tell your neighbours, friends and family about the event and pop along to see us on Wednesday 19 November, all are welcome.
