Looking back on a month of great trips, laughter, and memorable moments…

November brought us a wonderful mix of groups, families, and volunteers — all enjoying time on the water, learning new skills, and soaking up the autumn colours.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us, and to our brilliant volunteers who make each trip possible. If you joined us in November too, feel free to share your favourite photo or moment in the comments.

Now, as we head into December, we’re looking forward to our Christmas cruise season — festive jumpers, twinkly lights, and plenty more memories to come.

Nature, water and accessible outdoors should be for EVERYONE!

According to a recent article from Activity Alliance , accessible outdoor spaces play a crucial role for many people.

At CanalAbility we see every week how much being out on the water helps people – relaxing, having fun, feeling part of something. But lots of disabled people still can’t easily get outdoors, and that’s exactly why what we do matters.

Our 4-hour accessible canal boat trips are designed for groups of 10–12 people and are led by our fully trained, experienced volunteers.

If you care about inclusion, connection, or just want to help more people experience the peace and joy of being on the water — join us. Volunteer, spread the word, or book a trip. Nature shouldn’t exclude anyone.

Ever stopped and just… listened?

Next time you're near the canal, take a quiet minute to tune into the gentle splash of wildlife, the hum of the towpath, or even the patter of rain on water.

Sometimes the simplest moments are the most calming.

Follow for more calming canal moments.

CanalAbility provide specially adapted canal boats for disabled people & people with special needs to enjoy boating on the river

CanalAbility are an award winning charity dedicated to providing the facilities for disabled people and people with special needs to enjoy boating on the river on our specially adapted canal boats.

Have a day out or a weekend break and enjoy a great experience exploring the Rivers Stort and Lee, through the Essex and Hertfordshire countryside. Have a go at steering and changing the locks, or just relax, watch the wildlife and the world go by.

For longer holidays you can travel to London and the Grand Union Canal. Cruise through Regents Park and its zoo or perhaps take in a show – the accommodation is free and there’s no congestion charge. If you prefer a rural idyll visit the historic towns of Bishop’s Stortford and Hertford and the beautiful rolling countryside in-between.

Our three purpose-built, fully centrally heated and accessible broad beam boats enable everyone to take a full and active part in the boating experience all year round.
