Over the last couple of years my business has been shifting (with a few business names along the way 😆)..

While I’ve still been offering massage, behind the scenes I’ve been training in women’s health and supporting more and more women 1:1 with their hormones. Somewhere along the way I completely fell in love with this work (and I’m a total hormone nerd).

So I’ve made the decision to close the massage side of my business and focus fully on supporting women with their hormones. I sadly don’t have the capacity to do both now.

I’ll also be continuing my studies further part-time in September with a Master in Nutrition & Lifestyle Medicine, simply because I’m so passionate about women’s health and women’s getting the support women they deserve.

And honestly… this work is needed.

Women weren’t even routinely included in medical research until the 1990s. Yes, the 1990s. Not the 1890s! For decades, medicine was largely built on male bodies and male data… and we’re still catching up.

Which is exactly why helping women understand their hormones, their cycles, and the role things like stress play in how they feel matters so much to me.

A couple of practical things:
• Massage appointments are still available until mid-April
• If you already have a booking or bundle, everything is completely safe, just message me to arrange your appointments

I’ll be sharing much more about my 1:1 hormone support soon… including the stress–hormone connection that affects so many women.

And what better day to say all this than International Women’s Day 💜

I’m not in a “never drink, 5am cold plunge” era.

Luteal phase for me means:

– Sleep is lighter 😴
– Alcohol hits harder
– Blood sugar is less forgiving
– My nervous system has less buffer

So yes, I ordered the spicy marg.
And yes, I packed electrolytes.

Because even mild dehydration can nudge cortisol up.
And alcohol & already lighter luteal sleep = 3am staring at the ceiling.

Magnesium glycinate.
Lower light at night.
Legs up the wall instead of smashing a workout.

Not because I’m obsessive.
Because I understand the physiology.

Hormone health isn’t about restriction.
It’s about reducing unnecessary stress where you can.

That’s the difference.

If your iron is consistently low, it’s worth pausing and looking at the bigger picture.

You might have switched to matcha or green tea because it feels like the healthier option, more antioxidants, smoother energy, fewer jitters than coffee.

And that’s true.

But when heavy periods are part of the picture, iron demand is already higher.

Matcha contains compounds that can reduce iron absorption, particularly from plant-based sources.

So if ferritin remains low, it may be worth considering whether timing or intake is affecting absorption while you explore what’s going on with appropriate medical support.

Because this isn’t really about matcha.

It’s about asking:
Why is iron low in the first place?
Blood loss?
Absorption?
Dietary intake?
Overall stress load?

When I support clients with ongoing low ferritin, we don’t just add supplements and hope for the best.

We:
• Look at bleeding patterns
• Discuss relevant blood markers
• Adjust food strategically
• Consider absorption factors
• Encourage appropriate GP follow-up where needed

Matcha might be one small piece.

The bigger focus is understanding the full picture.

If you’ve ever been told “Your bloods are normal” but you still feel absolutely pants, this could be why.

Heavy periods increase your iron demand every single month.

And when iron stores drop, clotting can become less efficient, which means bleeding may become harder to control.

That’s how a vicious cycle can develop.

Heavy bleeding → lower iron.
Lower iron → potentially heavier bleeding 🩸

Reference ranges are designed to detect disease.
They aren’t tailored to your individual cycle or how much blood you’re losing each month.

So yes, your ferritin might sit “within range.”
That doesn’t automatically mean it’s sufficient for you.

Understanding this isn’t about self-diagnosing.
It’s about having better, more informed conversations when something doesn’t feel right.

Heavy periods are all part of your hormone health picture & it’s all data.

If eating for your hormones feels confusing, it’s usually because you’ve been taught to focus on rules instead of regulation.

Most hormone symptoms I see:
energy crashes, cravings, anxiety, cycle disruption, PMS, many are rooted in unstable blood glucose.

When blood sugar rises and falls too sharply, your body compensates by increasing cortisol.
And cortisol sits at the top of the hormone hierarchy.

High or chronically elevated cortisol:
– disrupts ovulation
– suppresses progesterone
– worsens PMS and cycle symptoms
– increases fatigue and cravings

This is why how you build your plate matters more than cutting foods out.

The framework I use with clients is simple by design:

Fuel & fibre first
Carbohydrates aren’t the problem, under-fueling is.
Vegetables, fruit and starchy carbs provide glucose and fibre to support energy and nervous system safety.

Protein as the anchor
Protein slows glucose absorption, supports hormone signalling, and keeps energy steady.

Healthy fats for stability
Fats further buffer blood sugar swings and are essential for hormone production.

This is the foundation that stops your body being in survival mode around food.

If food feels stressful, restrictive or confusing right now, start here.

Simple enough to repeat.
Supportive enough to change symptoms.

Save this for when the noise gets loud.

If you’re tired of burning out every month, this might help.

For years I thought feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, moody, starving or wired-but-tired every few weeks was just… part of being a woman.
A busy one. With a child. A job. And a brain that doesn’t switch off.

Then I realised my body wasn’t failing,
it was trying to communicate.

Our hormones shift every week, but most of us eat, move and expect ourselves to perform like we’re the same woman every single day.
No wonder it feels like living in a body with different settings that nobody gave us the manual for.

I’m not into complicated wellness routines or 7-step morning rituals.
I don’t want another thing to manage.

I just wanted something that made my life easier.

So here’s what I do:
I batch cook my Protein Banana Breakfast Bake, slice it up and freeze it.
Then on the days where life is lifing, I grab a slice, warm it up and top it based on the phase of my cycle, to support what my body is already doing instead of fighting it.

Not rules.
Not restriction.
Not perfection.

Just one small tweak that stabilises my blood sugar, supports my nervous system, and stops me from living on coffee and crumbs when life is full.

Because the alternative is trying to power through, and we are done with that.
