🎄 A Festive Intergenerational Afternoon at Willow Court! 🎄

We were delighted to welcome the children from High Beeches to Willow Court today as part of our ongoing intergenerational project. ❤️

Our residents and the children had a fantastic time building gingerbread houses and trees complete with plenty of icing to hold their masterpieces together! 🍬🏠✨

Meanwhile, our arts & crafts station was in full festive swing, with Christmas cards being lovingly made for our residents. The creativity and laughter filled the room and truly made the afternoon special. 🎨💌

A big thank you to High Beeches for bringing so much joy and energy to our home. These moments mean the world to our residents. 💛

🎶 A Joyful Return of Music with Claire Lewis-Lym 🎶

Last week we had the absolute pleasure of welcoming back the wonderful Claire Lewis-Lym, our talented local community-based music teacher.
Claire often joins us for special project-based musical activities, and this time she led a truly memorable Musical Memories session on “Buttercup.” 🌼
Together, we enjoyed a beautiful sensory music therapy experience.

Every instrument blended in perfect harmony, while Claire’s enchanting performances on the organ and violin filled the room with joy. The atmosphere was alive with rhythm, melody, and smiles — a reminder of how powerful music can be in bringing people together.

✨ Thank you, Claire, for sharing your gift with us once again. Everyone had a truly lovely time!

🎂✨ The Brocket Baby Mystery Lives On… ✨🎂

We’re celebrating the incredible Lynda here at Willow Court — but her story isn’t just any birthday tale. It’s a piece of local history! 👀

Lynda was raised on old Welwyn farm and Born on 14th November in 1949 to Charles and Nancy .Lynda was born at the famous Brocket Hall, a grand estate-turned-post-war maternity hospital, Lynda is known as “The Brocket Baby.”

Legend has it she was one of the last ever babies born there — with only one more said to have arrived before the hospital suddenly closed in 1950… coincidence, or a hidden story from the past? 👶🏽🏰

Years later, fate stepped in again when Lynda joined Townsend swimming club and met Sue — another Brocket baby! What are the odds? From a wartime hospital to lifelong friendship, their story has lasted over 40 years.

So today, we raise a glass to Lynda who also shares her birthday with King Charles — not just for her birthday, but for being part of one of Hertfordshire’s most intriguing and heart-warming post-war tales. 🥂💫

Today’s Weekly Coffee Morning🌺

Today’s coffee morning was a wonderful gathering, filled with families and friends coming together for a very special celebration — to honour the life of our dear Norman Wearne.🍰

Volunteer and daughter Sue brought in some delicious treats, along with a champagne toast, as we celebrated Norman’s life here at Willow surrounded by many of his dear friends.☕️

On the menu today were slices of salted caramel cake and fish finger sandwiches — a sweet and sentimental nod to our dear Norman, who was always partial to a fishfinger or two for his tea!
It was truly a lovely send-off for a great and inspiring man.🌹

Honouring Remembrance Today🥀

Today, we proudly celebrate Remembrance with a handcrafted, bespoke display in our foyer — a true labour of love created through the collaboration of our staff 🌹

This beautiful display stands as a symbol of gratitude and reflection, honouring all those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.🌹

We also pause to remember our late Ray Cooledge, Norman Wearne and Brian Safferey, along with our dear resident Dilys — thank you for your courage, service, and sacrifice. You will never be forgotten 🥀

Thankyou to Rosemary Crofts and from the for your continued service to or community at this memorable time ❤️

Midweek Moments! ✨
It’s been a wonderfully busy week so far! We had the pleasure of welcoming Reverend James from All Saints Church for a heartfelt and uplifting worship session.

Our friends from the Dementia Café in Harpenden joined us once again, bringing their fantastic Interactive Table for another fun-filled and engaging activity session — always a highlight of the month!

This week’s Book Club was led by our lovely resident Audrey, who kindly stepped in while our volunteer Julia takes a well-deserved break — thank you, Audrey, for keeping the pages turning!
And to top it all off, we celebrated Guy Fawkes Night in the sweetest way possible — with toasted marshmallows dipped in melted chocolate around the fire. 🔥🍫

Wishing everyone a sparkling Fireworks Night! 🎆
