I will ask you about your medical history, how you treat your hair and scalp, diet, nutrition, and any other factors which I think may affect the condition of your hair. Why Consult a Trichologist? People with hair and scalp problems may not know where to go for help and advice. Often their GP is the first option but as we know they can only operate within fairly restricted parameters. Their time allowed for a consultation is nowhere near enough needed to gain a holistic overview of each patient's individual problem. A Trichologist should give you at least one hour of consultation time. This allows for a detailed medical history to be taken, and consideration of the medication and supplements you may take. You should also be questioned about how you treat your hair on a day to day basis, your diet and nutrition. If it is necessary, a Trichologist will refer you to your GP for further tests for example, blood tests or food intolerance tests. Sometimes it may be necessary to use prescription only medicines and these will only be available through your GP. Depending on the problem you may have it may be necessary to give you products to use. Treatments can be carried out in the clinic or at home. I may also recommend you to arrange a blood test with your GP for an accurate diagnosis of what could be causing your hair problem. I also provide relevant treatments and products for many given hair/scalp conditions.
