Big thanks to Em Burnip from Eco Wedding Festivals for leading a session on sustainability at the Celebration of Celebrants conference.

It was the session I enjoyed the most! No judgement just great conversation that really got me thinking about the impact my work can have beyond the ceremony itself.

As celebrants, we’re often helping people mark some of the most meaningful moments in their lives, weddings, funerals, naming ceremonies, and those moments can also be opportunities to make thoughtful, sustainable choices.

The session helped me reflect on small but important steps I can take in my own business, such as:

• Reducing printed materials where possible and offering digital options
• Encouraging eco-friendly ceremony elements like biodegradable confetti or locally sourced flowers
• Working with suppliers who share sustainable values
• Being mindful about travel and combining journeys where I can

Em reassured me that none of us has to do everything perfectly, but every step towards a more sustainable approach matters.

My website will be launched at the end of the month and how timely that Justine from Simple SEO for Wedding, Funeral and Naming Celebrants was presenting yesterday at the Celebration of Celebrants.

Justine shared SEO insights and the power of strategy behind websites and that it’s not just about posting content, it’s about being intentional, understanding how people find you, and making sure my website and social platforms truly reflect the value I offer.

I have new ideas, a clearer direction, and a lot of motivation to improve my website and the way I show up online. Small changes can make a big impact, and I’m excited to start implementing what I’ve learned. Thanks Justine!

A day full of inspiration, learning, and connection at the Celebrant Circle, Celebration of Celebrants.

So grateful to spend time with such an uplifting community particularly my training buddies Abbie Rippon Professional Celebrant & Life Celebrations by Alison Bond sharing ideas, stories, and experiences that help us serve families and couples even better. From thought-provoking sessions to the simple joy of connecting with people who truly understand this work, it was a day that reminded me why I love being part of this profession.

I’m feeling inspired, reenergised, and thankful for this wonderful community.

Away from my celebrant work, I am a campaigner for ovarian cancer awareness. On Monday evening, we were honoured to represent the ovarian cancer community at a special reception at 10 Downing Street, held ahead of World Cancer Day on Wednesday 4 February (today).

Target Ovarian Cancer, CEO, Catherine Hart, invited myself and fellow campaigner, Reeta, to join her at the reception.

With the National Cancer Plan for England imminent, it’s vital that ovarian cancer remains firmly on the agenda. Transforming the future of cancer requires focus, leadership, and listening to those with lived experience.

A evening full of hope, a desire to ensure a brighter future and excellent canapés!

Yesterday I was honoured to work alongside the clergy at St. Margaret’s Church, Streatley. The service was led by Reverend Nigel and we heard the uplifting voices of the church choir to create a beautiful Celebration of Life. As a celebrant, my role is to help tell the story of a life well lived, while the clergy offer spiritual guidance and tradition — together, supported by music, we created a space where grief, gratitude and memories were honoured and love was felt deeply. 🤍🎶

Today I was honoured to serve as the Celebrant at a beautiful memorial for a devoted mum.

Their mum cherished family gatherings and capturing life’s moments through photos. We took our time, shared memories, clinked glasses and enjoyed an amazing buffet of all the party food their mum loved. The tradition of taking photos continued and I was kindly included. The poem, The Taker Of The Photo by Donna Ashworth fitted perfectly.

I support families with meaningful, personal farewells with memorials at home or in a formal setting.

Today I led a funeral and was given a rose by the Next of Kin from the flower tribute. A small gesture, yet it carried so much love, memory, and goodbye in a single bloom. 🌹

I’ve placed a candle next to it to symbolise that her dad’s presence and impact are still alive; he mattered, is remembered and loved.

Thanks to Co-op Funeralcare, Marsh Road branch for their professionalism and attention to detail.
