In optics, precision goes beyond millimetres; it extends right down to microns and nanometres.

Even the smallest deviation can compromise an entire optical system, and we understand that.

That's why we offer custom-made optical components, designed and manufactured to meet your exact specifications.

If you can't find the right substrate, coating, tolerance, dimension or specification on our website, our team will work with you to develop a solution tailored to your application.

From aerospace navigation systems and surgical imaging to quantum research and semiconductor manufacturing, we've supported global innovators with precision-engineered, purpose-built optics that enable some of the world's most advanced technologies.

What’s red, green and blue, and all around us? 🤔

Photonics, the science of light that powers everything from phone screens to Wi-Fi!

It’s easy to overlook, but light-based technology plays a huge part in almost everything we do, and powers key moments in our daily lives.

🕕 07:00 Wake up: Your phone alarm starts ringing. It’s driven by an LED display – that’s photonics

🪞 07:30 Getting ready: Check your reflection under the bathroom light; those LEDs use optics to create a natural glow

🚦 08:00 Daily commute: Traffic lights, car sensors and even the barcode scanners in shops, as you rush to grab the office milk, all use laser and photonic systems

💻 09:00 Work mode on: From the fibre-optic cables behind your Wi-Fi to the laser printers in your office, photonics keeps your connection (and your paperwork) flowing

🍞 13:00 Lunch break: Industrial lasers have cut and marked the packaging you scan while deciding between a ham or cheese sandwich, and optical sensors help check food quality and safety

📺 19:00 The evening unwind: That crisp TV picture is made possible by optical filters, coatings and precision lenses, bringing your favourite shows to life

🌙 22:30 Head to bed: From streetlights guided by optical sensors to your phone’s ambient light detector dimming your screen, photonics keeps things safe and comfortable after dark.

Photonics shapes every part of our day, and it’s often more than we realise.

🛩️ Most people are familiar with head-up displays (HUDs) from luxury cars like BMW and Mercedes-Benz, where they help drivers navigate without looking down at the dashboard. But this tech actually originated in military aviation, and it's still essential today.

HUDs rely on precise optical engineering to create what's known as ‘optical infinity’. This makes flight data appear far in the distance (aligned with the pilot's view of the runway or horizon) even though the display itself is just centimetres away. This means pilots can read critical information during landing or combat without refocusing their eyes.

Four main optical component types make this possible: projection lenses, collimation optics, beamsplitters and fold mirrors – all engineered to MIL-SPEC standards for extreme conditions.

Ever wondered why fibre-optic illumination systems don’t melt themselves? 🔥

Halogen and xenon lamps used in these setups produce incredibly bright light, which means they also generate intense heat. Feed that directly into a fibre bundle and you’ve got a recipe for degraded fibres, distorted images and costly repairs.

This is where cold mirrors come in. By reflecting visible light into the fibre while transmitting infrared (IR) away, they act like a thermal bouncer, letting the good stuff through and keeping the heat out.

This results in surgeons getting crystal-clear endoscopic views, microscopes delivering consistent illumination and machine vision systems running reliably for years.
