“Our sonographer Katie was amazing, so friendly, welcoming and informative with our scan, putting our minds at ease and providing the reassurance we were looking for. A 10 out of 10 experience.”

We really appreciate reviews like this because they highlight what matters most to many people coming in for a scan. Feeling welcomed, having time to ask questions, and understanding what’s being seen on the screen can make a big difference, particularly when there’s uncertainty or anxiety around an appointment.

Katie takes a thoughtful, clear approach to her work, explaining what she’s looking at and why, and making sure people feel comfortable throughout the scan. That combination of clinical expertise and calm communication often helps people leave feeling more settled and informed.

Thank you to this family for sharing their experience and for trusting us with their care.

One of the most common questions during a growth scan is about percentiles. A percentile compares your baby’s size to a large population of babies at the same gestation.

Being on a lower or higher percentile does not automatically mean something is wrong. What matters most is that growth is consistent and appropriate for your baby.

Estimated fetal weight is calculated using ultrasound measurements and recognised clinical formulas. While it is an estimate rather than an exact figure, it is a valuable tool when considered alongside other findings such as fluid levels, placental position and overall wellbeing.

At Cocoon, we take time to talk through these results in a way that makes sense, answering questions and explaining next steps if any follow up is recommended.

Knowledge can be reassuring when it is shared clearly and with context.

Growth scans are commonly offered later in pregnancy, particularly if there are factors that make closer monitoring useful.
This might include a history of previous pregnancy complications, medical conditions such as gestational diabetes, concerns around fetal size, reduced movements, or simply a desire for reassurance as pregnancy progresses.

It is important to understand that growth scans are not about finding problems. They are about gathering information. Tracking growth trends over time can help identify whether development is following an expected pattern or whether further review is needed.

For many people, having clear measurements and an explanation of what they mean helps reduce anxiety and supports informed conversations with their wider maternity team.

“This pregnancy has been incredibly anxiety inducing, as I’m sure anybody who has experienced pregnancy loss can relate to. Cocoon has felt like a safe space and a home away from home these past few months, and I can’t even put into words my gratitude for the team. Their care, love and support goes above and beyond.”

We’re really grateful to this client for sharing something so personal. Pregnancy after loss can carry a weight that doesn’t always ease, even as time passes. Feeling safe, supported and understood can make such a difference during that journey.

At Cocoon, we aim to create a space where people don’t feel rushed or dismissed, where emotions are acknowledged, and where care is steady and consistent from visit to visit. Knowing that this has helped someone feel supported through an anxious time means a great deal to our team.

Thank you for trusting us and for allowing us to be part of your care.

There does not need to be a clear label, diagnosis, or big moment that brings you to therapy. You do not have to be in crisis, or even know exactly what you want to talk about. Sometimes it is simply the sense that you need a bit of space to think, to speak freely, or to feel more settled in yourself.

At Cocoon, talking therapy is shaped around you. Sessions move at your pace, and there is no expectation to arrive with the right words or a clear starting point. You can talk about what feels important in that moment, whether that is anxiety, uncertainty, fertility, pregnancy, loss, early parenthood, or something that feels harder to name.

For many people, therapy becomes a place to pause. A space where thoughts can slow down, feelings can be acknowledged without judgement, and things start to feel a little clearer over time. There is no pressure to fix anything or reach an outcome. You can simply begin where you are, and take things one step at a time.

If you have been wondering whether talking therapy might help, that curiosity alone is enough to start the conversation.

Pregnancy and early parenthood can bring a lot to the surface. Sometimes it is joy and excitement, and sometimes it is anxiety, uncertainty, or emotions that feel hard to explain.

Talking therapy offers a quiet, confidential space to explore how you are really feeling. It is not about needing to be in crisis or having the right words ready. It is simply about having time to talk, be listened to, and make sense of things at your own pace.

At Cocoon, our talking therapy sessions are led by professionals who understand the emotional landscape that often sits alongside pregnancy, fertility, loss, and early parenthood. Sessions are gentle, supportive, and centred around you.

For many people, therapy becomes a place to breathe out, reflect, and feel less alone.

“I was able to advocate for myself as Kate’s support was fantastic. Every appointment we had a laugh. The scan pictures and videos are so special, the experience couldn’t be further from the in and out experience of an NHS appointment.”

We’re really grateful to read feedback like this. Feeling able to speak up, ask questions, and be part of decisions about your care matters so much, and it’s something we actively try to support at every appointment.

Care at Cocoon is unhurried and personal. There is time to talk, space to be yourself, and room for warmth and lightness alongside professionalism. Those moments of laughter, connection, and reassurance are just as important as the clinical side of care.

Thank you to this client for trusting Kate and the wider team. Being part of someone’s journey in this way is a privilege, and we never take it lightly.

People choose a scan membership for many different reasons, but the feeling behind it is often the same. A desire for reassurance, continuity, and a calmer experience throughout pregnancy.

For many, the hardest part of pregnancy is the waiting. Long gaps between appointments can leave questions unanswered and worries quietly building. A scan membership offers regular check ins, helping you feel more informed and connected as your pregnancy progresses.

It is not about having more scans for the sake of it. It is about seeing familiar faces, having time to ask questions, and knowing that support is there when you need it. Each appointment is unhurried and shaped around where you are in your journey at that moment.

Some people join early for reassurance. Others join later to follow growth more closely or to feel supported in the final weeks. Memberships can begin at any stage and are tailored to your needs, because no two pregnancies are the same.

Many families tell us that simply knowing when their next appointment is brings a sense of calm. It allows them to move through pregnancy with more confidence and less uncertainty.

If feeling supported and informed matters to you, a scan membership may be a helpful part of your journey.

Preparing for birth is not just about learning what might happen on the day. It is also about feeling informed, supported, and confident in yourself and your choices.

Our antenatal classes are designed to be personal and unhurried. They give you space to talk things through properly, ask the questions you might not feel comfortable asking elsewhere, and understand what lies ahead in a way that feels realistic rather than overwhelming.

We cover birth preparation, early labour, feeding, recovery, and the early days with your baby. Just as importantly, we talk about how it might feel, what can help, and how to look after yourselves as you move into this next stage.

Classes can be booked one to one, allowing them to be shaped around you, your partner, and your individual circumstances. Whether this is your first baby or you are returning with new questions, the focus is always on giving you clear information and steady support.

There is no right way to prepare for birth. But having time, space, and trusted guidance can make the journey feel calmer and more manageable.

Arriving for your first scan feeling nervous is so normal.

This lovely couple came to Cocoon for an early scan and shared that they felt at ease from the moment they arrived. They mentioned the warm welcome from Katie and how calm and reassuring Gemma made them feel throughout the scan.

That’s exactly what we hope for. A space that feels gentle, a team that takes time, and care that helps you settle rather than rush.

Thank you for trusting us with such an important first moment in your pregnancy. We’re so glad it felt as calm and supportive as it should, and we can’t wait to welcome you back for your gender scan.

If you’re feeling nervous about booking an early scan, you’re not alone. We’re here to talk things through, answer your questions, and help you feel supported every step of the way.

Early pregnancy often comes with a lot of questions, even when everything seems to be going well. It’s completely normal to feel unsure about what to ask, especially if you’re feeling nervous or overwhelmed.

Here are a few questions that many people find helpful to ask during an early scan.

What can we see today, and what’s normal at this stage
How are dates worked out, and what does that mean for my due date
Do my symptoms sound typical, and is there anything to keep an eye on
What usually happens next, and when might another scan be recommended
And if something has been worrying you, you can say it out loud. There’s space for that too

You don’t need to remember everything. We’ll talk things through with you gently and clearly. And if you’d like extra support alongside your scan, our midwife appointments are available as well.

Save this for your appointment if it helps.
