Does this apply to any of my clients? Great opportunity to train with Kate

Morning all :0)

Thanks everyone, I am sorted for now but will certainly be in touch if I need more people to work with :0)

I'm about to start a new instructors course (yes, another one :0) and am on the hunt for a willing client to work with. It's really quite specific I'm afraid (sorry to all my other lovely breeds) but I need a collie (or collie mix) who has a history of 'chasing' car, bikes, joggers etc.

Requirements:
🐾 - Availability once, or twice a week for 8 weeks from the end of Sept.
🐾 - The commitment to 'do your homework' - I will be there to coach and help but the work also needs to be done by you inbetween sessions.
🐾 - Happy to be filmed - the videos will only be used for the purposes of the course.

There will be a minimal cost to cover my fuel :0)

If you would like to be considered lease drop me a message (or a comment) and I'll be in touch :0).

Thanks as always,
Kate

Some useful advice on how to identify heat stroke - please keep your dogs inside 🙏

🥵☀️It’s Blooomin’ Hot!! ☀️🥵
Sadly we have had to treat heatstroke here in Harrogate this weekend.
Please take care to keep your pets cool. Heatstroke is a real risk, particularly for elderly dogs and brachycephalic breeds such as bulldogs and frenchies.
🚷DO NOT take your dog for a walk!!!
💦Provide fresh, cool water at all times
☀️Don’t let them lay in the sun
🐰Move rabbit and Guinea pigs hutches and runs into the shade
🏠Keep windows and curtains closed to help keep your house cool
🧊Provide frozen treats (ice cubes are fine for dogs to eat!)
🏊‍♀️Encourage them to go in a cool paddling pool
💨Use cool mats and fans

⚠️Signs of heatstroke include:
Red or dark gums
Excessive panting
Collapse
Weakness or wobbliness
Drooling
Vomiting/diarrhoea
🚑If you think your dog is struggling - CALL US!! Heatstroke can be deadly, acting fast makes a huge difference to outcome.
Get them somewhere cool, pour plenty of cool water on them. If they are conscious encourage them to drink small amounts of water. Turn on your car and pre-cool it ready to bring them straight into us.

❄️Our practice is fully air conditioned but please don’t walk dogs to us - bring them in a pre-cooled air conditioned car.
☎️If you are at all worried just give us a call - that is what we’re here for!

I was literally just talking about this with a client of mine today.

So many horse and dog owners and vets don’t think of physiotherapy when their animal/ patient has a tendon injury.

Here at Yorkshire Animal Therapy we have a Class IV laser, Ultrasound machine and a vast range of therapeutic exercises to help that tendon heal in the strongest way possible.

You can’t get rid of the scar tissue, but you can aid it in healing as strong as possible 🙌

Sorry I’ve been MIA for a while. 2022 ran away with me and this account took a back seat to work/life balance.

I wanted to take a moment to summarise some of 2022 at Yorkshire Animal Therapy, mainly for my own benefit but I also thought you might be interested!

* Presented CPD presentations to multiple vet practices
* Attended the IAVPRT conference in Cambridge
* Took a proper 3 week holiday with my family
* Secured further vet practice referrals
* Treated my first case of Immune Mediated Polyarthritis
* Recorded my first podcast as a guest speaker
* Completed 20 hours of CPD

So now we’re in 2023. And what is this year going to bring?

First on the list is, more family time. This may sound strange to say on my business page, but one of my main reasons to be self employed was to be able to have the flexibility to see my kids grow up. So some of my hours have slightly changed, but don’t worry I should always be able to fit you in in a reasonable time frame.

Education - as well as improving my own skills and knowledge, I’ve really enjoyed doing the talks at vet practices. I’m going to try and expand this to clients, so if you have anything that you’d like to know more about or are a dog professional and would like to collaborate on a client evening or podcast then message me!

ATTENTION PLEASE! This post has been generated due to an unprecedented number of horses/donkeys seen by vets across the UK and at Rainbow Equine Hospital and through Rainbow Equine Lab for Atypical Myopathy (Sycamore toxicity).

Prevention strategies, as advised by the RVC Neuromuscular Lab (which leads UK research in this area), include:

Provide supplementary forage in Autumn (not from the ground).
Clear fallen sycamore leaves and seeds from grazing areas or fence away from heavily contaminated areas.
Check neighbouring areas for high risk plants/ seeds as the seeds ‘helicopters’ can travel far in windy conditions.
Limiting grazing time, especially on windy autumnal days, is also helpful.
Check water troughs for contamination with seeds and clean regularly.

What a crazy few weeks! Anyone feel like they wanted to be like Ted today? Wasn’t the weather awful! With that in mind, it’s getting a little colder and damper and the simple addition of a rug on your dog on walks could help massively at this time of year. What other things do you do differently for your dogs during winter?

Rest in Peace your Majesty. Thank you for all you did for our world, it’ll be a different world without you.
