Cupcakes for the Cold! 🥶🥶🥶🧁🧁🧁

Nothing cures the winter chill like the aroma and taste of freshly baked cupcakes! 👌

But before we can enjoy them, we have to make them. Thankfully, all of us at Heath Lodge think half the fun is in the prepping and the baking. 🙂

Now to make a nice cup of tea to go with our delicious cupcakes! ☕🧁🧁

Bath Time, Elf! 🛀

Our Greenfield Court Carers thought it might be nice to give the Elf on the Shelf a 'relaxing' bath! 🤔

He doesn't deserve any bubble bath...or water, for that matter! 🚿😂😂😂

Are Our New Hens Feeling Blue? 🤔😔

Arriving early in the morning, our new hens seemed happy enough, chirpy even, as they cluck-clucked and bok-bokked away. And when placed in the hen house they settled quickly, pecking and scratching away as one would expect. 🐔🐔🐔

So, why, we wondered, were the eggs they laid bright blue? 🤔

Thankfully, our garden staff are also dedicated 'hen whisperers' and they know the inner workings of a chicken's mind. They assured us our new hens are as happy as can be. Their eggs are blue simply because they are of the 'Yorkshire Blue' variety which have a unique gene containing 'oocyan'.

Thank goodness our new hens are as happy as can be! 🥳🥳🥳

Bingo Gone Berserk! 🤯🤯🤯

It takes a lot of concentration to play in our high stakes bingo sessions. 🧐🧐🧐

With our ears anxiously listening out for calls from 'Kelly's Eye', 'Two Little Ducks' all the way up to 'Top of the Shop', the last thing we need is the pesky Elf on the Shelf 🧝 covering the numbers! 😡

Along with Jack Frost...🥶🥶🥶

Yes, we agree it's chilly, to say the least! But along with the cold snaps comes the crystal-cut wonder of the frost and other aspects of nature that come into focus at this time of the year:

the striking red stems of our dogwood shrub with its bright red stems that warm the eye like the flames of an open fire; 🌳🔥

The wonders of our garden never cease! birch with its delicate, peeling bark which was, centuries ago, used as paper on which to write Sanskrit literature. 🌳📝
