It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a much-loved Knaresborough lady, who served as Town Crier on many proud occasions.
She passed away peacefully at Thistle Hill Care Home on 4th September 2025, aged 90 years.
A cherished member of the community, she will be remembered for her warmth, spirit, and the joy she brought to many through her role and presence in the town.
Her funeral will take place at Holy Trinity Church, Knaresborough, on Wednesday 8th October at 1:00pm.
All are warmly welcome to attend.
Please wear a hint of lilac colour in her memory.

So proud of these four for braving the cold, wind, and rain to complete the St. Michael’s Midnight Walk last night! 🌧️🌙💪
They walked with determination and heart, raising valuable funds for the incredible work that St. Michael’s does every day.
Although Sonya couldn’t be there due to unforeseen circumstances, she was very much with them in spirit. 💛
A huge well done to all involved — what an amazing achievement for such a worthy cause!

Today we had a funeral service to say goodbye to a true classic car enthusiast, and his family chose the most fitting farewell. A magnificent 1936 vintage Rolls Royce hearse 25/30 carried him on his final journey — a vehicle as timeless, graceful, and unique as the man himself. It was more than just a mode of transport; it was a heartfelt tribute to his passion, a celebration of a life well-lived, and a beautiful reminder that love and memories, like a classic car, never lose their shine.
