Here is a perfect example of the power of intergenerational bonds! 🙌 🩷💚

At Saltshouse Haven, a really special relationship has formed between Joan and little Raya.

What started with simple activities together has grown into a genuine connection built on familiarity, trust and affection.

Raya now visits Joan regularly, they draw together and she even pops in to say goodnight in her pajamas, which says everything about how comfortable and close they’ve become.

For Joan, it brings companionship and warmth.

For Raya, it’s about connection, confidence and forming bonds outside of her immediate family.

Such a lovely example of how care environments can create something so special!

Living Our Values Award! 🏆

A huge congratulations to Alan, our Regional Chef, for winning the Living Our Values Award.

This role is so often behind the scenes, but its impact is felt every single day across our homes. Nutrition is a fundamental part of the care we provide, and Alan’s work goes far beyond what people might expect from a chef.👨🏼‍🍳

In a care setting, food isn’t just about meals, it’s about wellbeing, comfort and connection.

It’s understanding that some residents need higher calories and energy, ensuring the right balance of nutrients, and adapting meals to individual needs. It’s also about familiarity, traditional recipes, favourite dishes, and listening to what people actually want to eat. 🩷💚

Alan brings all of this together. From carefully planned menus to taking on board residents’ suggestions, his work supports both health and happiness in equal measure.

It’s a role that requires thought, care and consistency, and one that truly reflects our values.

This Earth Day, we’re reflecting on the small and big changes we’re making across our homes to reduce our impact on the environment 🌍

Over the past year, we’ve been working on improving energy efficiency across several of our homes.

From installing solar panels and air source heat pumps to upgrading insulation and switching to LED lighting, these changes are already making a real difference.

At one home alone, energy use has reduced by over 50%, helping to lower both emissions and running costs.

But it’s not just about buildings. Creating comfortable, sustainable spaces also supports the wellbeing of the people who live and work in our homes every day.

We know there’s always more to do, but this is a step in the right direction and one we’re proud to be part of. 👏🏼

When an idea takes off and the whole team gets involved, magic happens! 🪄

This unused space at Saltshouse Haven Care Home has been transformed into something so special…. 🫖☕

A space that wasn’t being fully used has now been transformed into a beautiful tea room, created with care, creativity and a love.

From painting the room and putting up shelves, to residents helping choose biscuits and others kindly donating vintage tea sets, this has been a project shaped by the whole home. 🎨🍵

Now, it’s a cosy café-style space where residents can relax, socialise and enjoy homemade cakes, a good brew and great company ☕🍰

A wonderful example of what can be created when everyone comes together.

A huge well done to everyone at Saltshouse haven and thank you to everyone who has been involved in this transformation.

This , we’re celebrating all the four-legged friends who come into our homes and make such a difference. 🐶🐕‍🦺🐈

Whether it’s a gentle cuddle, a wagging tail, or just sitting quietly alongside someone, these visits bring comfort, familiarity and plenty of smiles.

Over the years, we’ve been lucky to welcome so many lovely dogs, cats, snakes (even pony’s 😄) into our homes, each one bringing their own personality and a lot of happiness with them.

Here are just a few of the good boys and girls who’ve brightened our days!

Double the love, double the joy 🍼🍼

Across We Care Group and Summit Care Group it’s the little thoughtful touches that mean so much! 🥹🤗

At Barton Brook Care Home, the team and residents recently surprised two very special mums-to-be, Ljia and Arya,with a beautiful double baby shower filled with love and thoughtful touches before they leave for maternity. 🩷🩵

The residents and team enjoyed coming together with games and decorations, they shared lovely gifts and it was such a special celebration.

What made it even more meaningful was sharing it with residents, who were delighted to be involved.

You can’t beat a baby shower with residents who have decades of wisdom, sharing their own stories from their parenting journeys, it's something that will stay with our mums to be!

For Ljia and Arya, it was a chance to celebrate this exciting new chapter surrounded by the people they care for every day, making it all the more special.

A perfect example of the connection, kindness and feeling part of something special in our homes, we can’t wait to welcome the babies in for visits!!

Myth: Moving into a care home means giving up the things you love…

Reality: Not at all 🩷💚

Across We Care Group, it’s all about continuing to enjoy life’s simple pleasures
For many of our residents, that includes a trip to the local pub 🍻

Residents from Saltshouse Haven Care Home recently enjoyed an afternoon out at their local, The Royal Charter Hull, where they tucked into a delicious meal, enjoyed a drink or two, and of course made room for dessert! 🍰

These trips are so important, getting out into the community, sharing laughter, and doing the things that have always been part of local life.

Because moving into a care home doesn’t mean life stops, it just means having more support to keep enjoying it for longer. 🩷💚

Our very own Barton Brook Care Home in Eccles has welcomed a new Home Manager, recently featured in Care Home Magazine.

This marks a positive new chapter for the home, with fresh leadership focused on delivering high-quality, person-centred care and continuing to build a supportive, welcoming environment for both residents and team members.

We look forward to seeing Barton Brook continue to flourish under this new leadership.
