Nexus Fostering trains and supports foster carers to look after vulnerable children and young people. You may own your home, or be renting.

Nexus Fostering is a well-established fostering agency that was set up and is run by social workers who are deeply committed to exceptionally high quality placements leading to the best possible outcomes for children and young people and this has been recognised by our long standing local authority customers and by Ofsted with an Outstanding rating. West Midlands, Gloucestershire, Warwickshire, Wiltshire, Worcestershire,
East Anglia, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire, Oxfordshire, Avon, Berkshire, Bristol, Shropshire, and Staffordshire. Because looked after children and young people come from all walks of life and cultural backgrounds we encourage applications from people who reflect this diversity so that we can place children within a loving home environment in which they feel they belong. You may be married or a co-habiting couple, with or without children, single, divorced people, or a single parent. And you could be straight or gay, too. To apply to become a foster carer with Nexus, you must offer a spare bedroom, be available throughout the day and ideally have experience of caring for children other than your own. It will be advantageous if you are a car driver with your own car. There is a national shortage of Parent & Child Foster Carers! This means that too often, parents and their babies are placed in residential units instead of a nurturing home environment.

Parent and child fostering gives parents the chance to develop their skills in a safe, supportive environment, while ensuring their baby remains protected. A foster home can offer the warmth, guidance and stability that makes all the difference at such a crucial time. 💚

We’re sharing insights into parent and child fostering, including the differences between skilled and supported arrangements, helping prospective carers understand the expectations, responsibilities and support involved in each.

For children in care, identity affirmation is protective. Seeing adults around them confidently wearing Afro-textured hair in professional settings helps to challenge harmful stereotypes and supports positive self-image, self-worth and belonging. 🧠For Mental Health Week, we’re proud to share a powerful poem written by one of our young people. 💙

“Everyone is still figuring things out” is a reminder that growing up doesn’t happen all at once — and neither does having everything worked out. From childhood through to adulthood, we are all constantly learning, adapting and discovering who we are.

This piece is honest, reflective and compassionate and perfectly captures the message that no matter your age, you’re allowed to still be figuring things out. 😊

✨ Meet Rihanna ✨

At just 18 years old, Rihanna has been given an incredible opportunity to complete work experience abroad in the Czech Republic as part of her animal care studies at college. 🐾✈️ It’s a huge achievement and an experience that will support both her learning and future career.

Rihanna has a close bond with retired foster carer Davina, who has been a constant source of support and encouragement throughout her journey. That relationship continues today, with Rihanna still living with Davina through a Staying Put arrangement — offering stability, reassurance, and a sense of home. 🏡💙

Stories like Rihanna’s highlight the successes and dreams young people can achieve while showing that foster carers can help them build confidence, develop independence, and access opportunities that shape their futures.
