As the previous year has ended, we inevitably start thinking about what we’re looking forward to in the year to come, and start laying plans for our New Year’s resolutions.
Millions of us have every intention of following them through: quitting smoking, embracing healthier eating habits and better food, or losing weight.
Although plenty of people do succeed, for many the surge of enthusiasm for these new behaviours starts to dwindle by the end of February.
By March it has run out, and willpower alone isn’t enough to prevent almost every New Year’s resolution from becoming a distant memory.
