North East-based animal-assisted activity, support & education service offering therapeutic interventions for people with social, emotional & mental health needs & disabilities. Pets4People is an activity and support service which uses animal assisted activities and therapeutic interventions to support children and adults with social, emotional & mental health needs and/or disabilities. It is proven that animals have a calming influence on people and when people have positive interactions with animals, managing their general health and welfare it gives people a sense of purpose and feelings of accomplishment whilst developing independence and confidence etc. Regular interaction with animals can lower stress & anxiety, increase feelings of love, belonging and reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation. Support is offered on either a 1:1 basis or group activity sessions) support can be offered in a person's home, school and work place or Pets4People activity location.

Happy Halloween from all the people and animals here at Pets4People! Here are some tips for keeping your pets and wildlife safe this Halloween/bonfire night;

🎃 Pumpkins are toxic to many animals. Don’t leave them out in gardens or woods where animals like hedgehogs can get them - cook or compost them instead.

🕸️ Fake spider webs can trap birds and small animals. Make sure to check for anything caught in them.

🍬 Sweets & chocolate are harmful to pets. Keep leftovers and wrappers well out of reach.

🔥 Bonfires – Check wood piles for hedgehogs or other wildlife before lighting. Build them on bonfire night instead of doing it before - this prevents animals moving in thinking it's a safe place to call home.

🕯️ Candles & decorations – Blow out real candles and clear away small plastic bits, balloons, or fake webs that could harm curious animals.

✨ Costumes & glow sticks – Make sure pet costumes are comfy and don't cause stress. Remove pet costumes after use and keep glow sticks or props away from pets - they can be toxic if chewed.
