This year’s theme from the original UN Women’s Day and is all about honouring the trailblazers and committing to a world with every woman and girl can live safe safely, speak freely and exist equally.

It doesn’t take long to dig deeper than IWD website to find it is in fact a commercial entity that is not affiliated with the United Nations campaign at all. Their theme this year is givetogain…. What?? Like we don’t already give enough?!?!

So here at TLC, we are supporting the original version, fighting against the fact that:
- No nation has closed the legal gap between men and women
- Women only have 64% of the legal rights that men hold worldwide
- Across the aboard, the law systematically disadvantages women
- In many countries, the law permits child marriages, eroding the full potential of approximately 12 million girls annually
- Violence against women and girls in conflict has searched by 87%

We must stand up and show up, support each other and speak up for our rights.

11% of the population underwent some form of aesthetic procedure in 2023, and this demand is not showing any sign of diminishing…

As the popularity of these procedures surges, so too do the number of untrained or unscrupulous providers - and with that, the number and severity of medical complications.

A new UK study this week found that there has been a fourfold increase in the number of practitioners offering botulinum toxin services in the UK in just two years, and that more than 70% of those offering the jab are not medically-trained.

Injectable (and let’s face not forget, these are medical) treatments are being performed on kitchen tables, public loos, hotel rooms…

So it doesn’t come as an enormous surprise that last year 41 people in England suffered from botulism poisoning, an untold number suffered from vascular occlusion where injected filler blocks an artery which can lead to skin loss and even blindness. And sadly the infamous BBL with resulting sepsis on more than one occasion.

Unfortunately, not only do innocent members of the public suffer traumatic injury, but it then falls to either our already over stretched NHS or us as reputable doctors to pick up the pieces where we can.

Please don’t be one of these statistics - do your research!!
