Mental Health Awareness Week gives an opportunity for the whole of the UK to come together and raise greater awareness around mental health. This year's theme is 'Movement: Moving more for our mental health' and aims to encourage people to find moments in their day to move more.
There's a strong link between taking care of our physical health and protecting our mental health. Whether you're going for a brisk walk, doing some chair exercises, or dancing in the kitchen - it all counts!
We know that despite movement being so important for our mental health, many people find it tough to stay active. 1 in 4 people will experience a mental health issue of some kind each year in England, and this is a number we want to see improve both within our communities and for whoever is in need.
There are many mental benefits to be gained from incorporating more movement within our daily routines, some of which we have pointed out here: https://brnw.ch/21wJNjR
