📌 Why Stress Can Make Your Skin More Sensitive 🔍
When your body feels under pressure, it releases cortisol your main stress hormone. Cortisol is helpful in small bursts, but when it stays high for too long, it can quietly disrupt your skin.
What actually happens:
• Cortisol weakens your skin barrier
• Moisture escapes more easily
• Inflammation rises
• Sensitivity, redness, and reactivity become more noticeable
This is why during busy, emotional or hormonal phases, your skin can suddenly feel “different” tighter, stingy, flushed, or easily irritated.
Cortisol spikes from things like lack of sleep, rushing, emotional stress, overworking, or even constant multitasking. And your skin feels every bit of it.
Supporting the nervous system, slowing the stress response, and strengthening the barrier can make a huge difference and it’s something I work with every day in clinic.
🌿 A calmer system = a calmer skin.
