Children’s Mental Health Week is a great opportunity to think about how we can support children’s wellbeing in everyday life. 🧠💙📱✨

Creating healthy habits around screen time and internet use, having open conversations about what children see online, and knowing where to find support can all make a positive difference.

For families waiting for neurodiversity or mental health assessments, trusted guidance and early support can help while you’re on the journey. Small, consistent actions at home can help children feel safer, more confident and better supported.

During our PLT on Tuesday, while our clinical team were undertaking clinical training, our reception, admin, nursing and management teams had the pleasure of welcoming Sarah Pilling from Neurodiverse Education Consultancy.

Sarah delivered a really insightful session focused on neuro-affirming practice, helping us reflect on how we can be more accepting, empathetic and inclusive for our patients.

We explored:
• Neuro-affirming language
• Autism as a spectrum and what this really means
• The negative impact of “functioning” labels
• Sensory processing differences and sensory overload
• Strategies, accommodations and reasonable adjustments
• Anxiety, masking, stimming and emotional regulation
• The importance of specialist interests
• Applying learning to real-world, practical scenarios

As a practice, we always strive to be as inclusive as possible, while recognising that we don’t always get everything right. What matters is our commitment to keep learning, listening and adapting to better meet the needs of our patients.

As Sarah perfectly said — “be curious.” 💙

World Cancer Day is a chance to raise awareness of cancer prevention, early diagnosis and the importance of national screening programmes for bowel, breast and cervical cancer. Screening can help find changes early, before symptoms appear, when treatment is more likely to be successful. 💙✨

Many people diagnosed with cancer now live longer and better lives thanks to improvements in detection, treatment and support. Understanding risk factors, making healthy lifestyle choices and attending screening when invited can all help reduce risk and improve survival. Dear Patients,

All Practices in East Lancashire will be closed on Tuesday 3rd February 2026 from 1pm-6.30pm for Protected Learning Time.

This enables Practices to provide dedicated training to their staff and to discuss and plan ways that will allow them to improve services, meet demand and support the wellbeing of their staff.
For all life threatening medical emergencies please call 999 as you normally would.

If you feel your request is urgent and cannot wait until the following day arrangements have been made for clinical cover which can be accessed by calling 111 where a trained member of staff will triage your request.

Our reception will re-open at 3.30pm for any collections or queries but clinical cover will be in place via 111 until closing. The practice will reopen as normal at 8am on Wednesday 4th February 2026.

Thank you for your support and cooperation.

Sexual Violence Awareness Week is a time to highlight support for anyone affected by sexual assault or sexual violence, including women and men. đź’ś

Help is available if you have experienced abuse, are worried about someone else, or need advice on staying safe. Confidential support, medical care, forensic services and sexual health checks (including STI testing) can be accessed through specialist services.

You may also see emergency alert test notifications on your phone during national testing. Opting out can help some people keep phones hidden and safe, as these alerts override silent and do not disturb settings.

You are not alone, and support is there when you are ready. 🕊️🩺✨
