Regular exercise plays a vital role in maintaining both physical and mental health, and it does not have to mean spending hours in the gym. Being active can help reduce the risk of long-term conditions, improve mood and boost energy levels, while also supporting independence as we age.

Examples of regular exercise include:
๐Ÿšดโ€โ™‚๏ธ Brisk walking or cycling to improve heart health
๐Ÿ’ช Strength exercises like carrying shopping or resistance training to build muscle
๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธBalance and flexibility activities such as yoga or stretching to reduce falls and stiffness
๐Ÿ’™ Low-impact activities like swimming or chair-based exercises, especially later in life

Staying active in ways you enjoy makes it easier to keep exercise as part of everyday life.

๐Ÿคข๐Ÿšฝ Vomiting and Diarrhoea? ๐Ÿšฝ๐Ÿคข

Stomach bugs such as norovirus can be very unpleasant, but the good news is they usually get better on their own within around 2 days ๐Ÿ’™

For most people, self-care at home is the best treatment:

๐Ÿ’ง Drink plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration
๐Ÿต Take small, frequent sips if youโ€™re feeling sick
๐Ÿ›Œ Rest as much as possible
๐Ÿงผ Wash hands thoroughly to help stop the spread

You usually do not need antibiotics for stomach bugs, as they are often caused by viruses.

๐Ÿ“ž When to seek medical advice:

Please contact us or seek urgent help if symptoms are severe, last longer than a few days, or if you are worried about a baby, older adult, pregnant person, or someone with a weakened immune system.

Staying at home until 48 hours after symptoms stop also helps protect others ๐ŸŒˆ

๐Ÿฉบ Cervical Cancer Prevention Week

This week is the perfect time to remind everyone how important cervical screening is. Cervical cancer causes around 890 deaths every year in England, yet most cases can be prevented with regular screening.

๐Ÿ’ก Why screening matters
Nearly 99.8% of cervical cancers are linked to high-risk HPV.

Cervical screening (smear test) checks for HPV and early cell changes before cancer develops.

It mostly affects people under 45, but abnormal changes can happen at any age.

Even if youโ€™ve had the HPV vaccine, screening is still essential.

๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€โš•๏ธ Who is invited?
Anyone with a cervix โ€“ including women, trans men, and non-binary people โ€“ aged 25โ€“64 are invited for a screening every 5 years.

๐Ÿ“ Available local support
Look out for the Living Well Bus, offering private, discreet cervical screening without an appointment. Find out more at- https://www.cwp.nhs.uk/livingwellservice

You can book a screening for free via GP practices and s*xual health clinics.

Self-sampling options are being introduced for those who find appointments difficult to attend.

๐Ÿ“… Donโ€™t delay
If youโ€™ve received your invitation, book your appointment today. Itโ€™s quick, free, and could save your life.

You can get oral contraception and emergency contraception directly from participating pharmacies, without needing a prescription or GP appointment. This makes accessing contraception quicker and more convenient, helping you stay in control of your s*xual health. Trained pharmacy teams can offer confidential advice and support to help you choose the right option for you. ๐Ÿ’Š๐Ÿฉบ

Emergency contraception can stop you getting pregnant after unprotected s*x (s*x without contraception or when contraception might have failed). If you need emergency contraception after having unprotected s*x, speak to your local pharmacist as soon as you can. You need to use emergency contraception within 3 to 5 days of having unprotected s*x. โœจ
