Death of men recently:
We were sad to hear of the death of Nick Clements and Joe Smith recently.
-Nick spoke at the pop up community conference in Hastings, May 2018 as an invited elder about working with men, life and the four genders model amongst other things. This marked the start of A Band of Brothers Hastings. A big heart, wild stories and a love of art, Nick , ran a men' group in Gloucestershire and pop up men's conferences that inspired the men's work in Hastings (the video below is Nick's introduction to his Hastings talk-an example of how we can all remember our humanness) To see more of Nick's work including his real men conferences https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQRG2RxUZMw

-Joe was one of the first A Band of Brothers Hastings mentees. He was mentored by Stu. Joe was a father to Arthur, a cheeky chap like his Dad. Whilst he had challenges in life he also was caring, helping out others in need and courageous. Joe was 29.
-When hearing of Joe's death in St Helen's Woods an owl was twit twooing a reminder of Hastings legend Grey Owl aka Archibald Belaney who also died young at the age of 49 . An oak tree marks his memory in St Helen's Woods which we saw on the recent walk & BBQ. Grey Owl was one of the first conservationists in the UK and his remarkable story is told in the Richard Attenborough film of his life with Pierce Brosnan as Grey Owl https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I7loOrrteCw . Richard and David Attenborough attended one of Grey Owl's lectures in 1936 inspiring them both with his stories of nature conservation. You can see a replica of Grey Owl's hut that he shared with beavers in Hastings Museum.
