Getting Ready & Celebrating Red Nose Day!

We had such a lovely time getting ready for the Red Nose Day and celebrating together!
From personalised t-shirts and colourful decorations to handmade party hats — everything looked so bright and fun.

The day was filled with laughter, games, and happy moments. We also celebrated Ian’s birthday, making it even more special.

A day full of smiles, joy, and togetherness — just what Red Nose Day is all about.

St Patrick’s Day Celebration at The Laurels.

We had such a lovely and meaningful day celebrating St Patrick’s Day together here at The Laurels.

Our activities included a special “trip to Ireland,” guided by our wonderful team member Paul, who shared his knowledge about Irish traditions, history, and folklore. Residents especially enjoyed hearing about the magical Irish fairies, including the mysterious Banshee, whose stories have been passed down through generations.

There was plenty of creativity and joy as we made St Patrick’s themed arts and crafts, including leprechaun hats and festive decorations. We sang, danced, played games, and enjoyed some beautiful spring sunshine together in the garden.

A special highlight of the day was celebrating our lovely manager Sara’s birthday.

Dressed in our favourite shades of green, the day was filled with smiles, laughter, and wonderful memories — just the way we like it at The Laurels.

Thank you to everyone who made the day so special.

Today at The Laurels we celebrated Mother’s Day with a special spa and pampering afternoon for our wonderful residents.

Our lovely ladies enjoyed a calm and relaxing atmosphere with gentle music, rose petal water, beautiful fragrances, and soothing skincare treatments. The afternoon included relaxing foot, hand, and face massages, warm scalp massages, face masks, and other little moments of pampering designed to help everyone unwind and feel special.

It was truly heart-warming to see so many smiles and hear the lovely conversations shared during the afternoon. The celebration finished with delicious Mother’s Day cakes and snacks enjoyed together.

Our residents told us they would happily have this kind of spa day all the time – and we can certainly see why! It was a beautiful afternoon filled with relaxation, laughter, and appreciation for all the wonderful mothers in our home.

At The Laurels, every resident matters.

Today we spent time visiting several of our residents in their rooms, bringing activities and sharing some quality one-to-one moments together. In this video you can see a lovely craft session where we made beautiful straw ornaments, enjoyed a chat and shared some special time together. Seeing those smiles truly made our day.

These person-centred visits are very important to us at The Laurels. While many residents enjoy joining activities in the lounge, we understand that not everyone is always able to take part in group activities. That’s why we make sure to bring meaningful activities directly to our residents as well — because every smile matters and everyone deserves time, attention and care.

Sometimes the smallest moments create the biggest happiness.

Yesterday at The Laurels we celebrated International Women’s Day in the most beautiful way. 🌸

Our amazing team member Connor spent time giving flowers to each of our lovely lady residents and to the wonderful women in our team, simply to make them feel special, appreciated and valued. The smiles, warmth and happiness this small act created were truly heart-touching.

Connor is truly a brilliant and kind person, and moments like this remind us that there is nothing more beautiful in the world than genuine kindness. It is the little gestures, given from the heart, that mean the most.

We feel incredibly lucky at The Laurels to have genuine kind people around us, bringing so much care, warmth and positivity to our home every single day.

Today at The Laurels we celebrated International Women’s Day in a truly special way.

Our wonderful ladies embraced their inner superheroes as we dressed up as Superwomen and Wonder Women, celebrating the strength, kindness, resilience and wisdom that women carry throughout their lives.

The day was filled with laughter, creativity and meaningful moments. Connor surprised each lady with beautiful flowers, we enjoyed decorating themed cupcakes together, and spent time creating arts and crafts while sharing stories about inspiring women in history.

Most importantly, we reflected on the unique “superpowers” each of our residents and team members brings to the world. Whether it is kindness, courage, humour, creativity or compassion – every woman has something that makes her truly special.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the day so memorable. The Laurels was filled with smiles, laughter and plenty of superhero capes flying through the halls.

Happy International Women’s Day to all the incredible women everywhere.

Our Sugarcraft Club is a much-loved activity at The Laurels, enjoyed by residents, families, and our team.

Whether we are making sugar decorations for cupcakes, delicate sugar flowers, or fun little figurines, every session is filled with creativity, laughter, and plenty of smiles. These moments are not only enjoyable but also offer wonderful benefits for our residents. Activities like sugarcraft help support creativity, encourage social interaction, and gently exercise fine motor skills, while also bringing a sense of achievement and pride in what they create.

It is also a lovely opportunity for residents to spend quality time with their families and connect with others in a relaxed and friendly setting.

Everyone is always welcome to join in — residents, families, children, and team members — making it a truly special time where we can create, laugh, and enjoy time together.

At The Laurels, we are one big family. We love celebrating our residents’ birthdays, anniversaries, and other important milestones together.

Each special moment is celebrated with cake, decorations, laughter, and of course a little happy singing from the team and friends around them. It’s always a joy to see the smiles these celebrations bring.

Here are some lovely photos from our most recent birthday celebrations.
