🎽 Sam is running the London Landmarks Half Marathon this April to say thank you to the RVC for saving her dog George.

Back in 2023, George was rushed to the RVC, where he spent six days in the hospital undergoing CT scans, MRI scans, blood tests, and brain tissue sampling, after which he was diagnosed with meningitis.

As a result, George had to have chemotherapy every few weeks. Thanks to the incredible care from the Neurology team, he is now on chemo every nine weeks and continuing to improve!

Sam said:
“I am running to say thank you for the RVC for saving George’s life when he was diagnosed with meningitis. I just want to be able to give something back as a thank you for saving my George”

We’re celebrating one year of our dedicated chemotherapy treatment room!

Thanks to your support, we opened a purpose-built space for our Oncology Service last year. This calm environment helps pets receive chemotherapy in a space designed for their comfort, helping them feel relaxed during treatment.

The team shared:
"The room has genuinely transformed how we work — it’s created a calm, welcoming space that makes a real difference to both our team and the patients we support."

Your generosity has helped make this possible. Discover ways you can support us here: rvcact.com/supportus

Today is the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, and we’re shining a spotlight on Kristina, one of our summer studentship recipients.

Fascinated by cardiovascular science, Kristina spent her placement studying heart and muscle development in zebrafish embryos, gaining her first real taste of lab-based research. Through this opportunity, she mastered advanced techniques including RNA transcription, zebrafish genotyping and fluorescent microscopy.

Kristina said:
“This summer project was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. I’m extremely grateful to those who funded it and to my supervisors for helping me learn so much.”

This , we’re sharing the story of Pooh.

At eight years old, Pooh was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma, a type of skin cancer affecting his nose. With the support of the RVC Oncology team, he received electrochemotherapy (ECT) and just three weeks after his first treatment showed a complete response, meaning no further treatment was needed!

Thanks to your generous support, last year we were able to fund the chemotherapy treatment room at the RVC Small Animal Referrals Hospital, helping cats like Pooh receive the care they need in a calm and comfortable environment.

Your support helps us continue to improve our hospitals and provide life-changing treatment for pets who need it most. Find out how you can support more patients like Pooh here: rvcact.com/supportus

Thanks to a historic legacy gift, the RVC Equine Referral Hospital were able to invest in a state-of-the-art Qalibra Exceed CT scanner, a gift that continues to transform care today.

One of the patients to benefit is Langley, a gentle giant standing at 19hh and weighing 850kg, who recently visited the hospital for a lameness assessment. Using the CT scanner, the team were able to obtain detailed images of both forelimbs while he stood comfortably under light sedation, avoiding the need for a general anaesthetic.

The scan played a crucial role in identifying the cause of Langley’s lameness, allowing a targeted treatment and management plan to be put in place.

By leaving a gift in your Will, you could help shape the future of veterinary care for generations to come. Find out more about leaving a legacy: rvcact.com/legacy

This , we’re celebrating how access to education can change lives – and how a legacy gift in your Will can help open doors for the next generation of veterinary professionals.

One student whose life was changed is Ebony. She graduated last year after being awarded the Elizabeth Catt Scholarship, made possible through a legacy gift.

Ebony said:
“Any amount of money could be life changing for a student. So many things can go wrong and having financial support helps support people who can’t get help anywhere else. It ensures that someone can get a degree, and progress in their chosen field.”

Thanks to your generosity, we were pleased to support PhD researcher Sarah Hobbs, including funding her research and enabling her to present at the ECVN–ESVN Conference last September, where she shared findings from her clinical trial investigating behavioural interventions for canine idiopathic epilepsy.

Sarah said:
“The conference was an amazing opportunity to speak with veterinary neurologists about epilepsy and behaviour and was an important part of the dissemination process so that our findings can be considered in the care of dogs with idiopathic epilepsy. The next step will be publishing the results in peer-reviewed journals, so look out for these in the future!”
