Smart Use

Smart Use Effective, innovative and simple to use technology that delivers sophisticated results.

Smart Use develop supply chain solutions that deliver significant cost savings, reduced wastage and optimal inventory holding for today's NHS lean inventory culture. Smart Use is a sophisticated and easy to use materials management system that captures usage and inventory data at the point of use, accurately matching supply to demand, and can reproducibly demonstrate savings across all departments. Smart Use is a Microsoft Dynamics value added reseller with the experience and capacity to implement sophisticated business solutions including the full range of Microsoft Dynamics Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP). The Smart Use solution focuses on the Supply Chain expertise within the organisation. Smart Use optimises your inventory so that you have the right products in the right place at the right time. Where a hospital has multiple sites and a more ‘global’ picture of the inventory is required, the Smart Use system is able to provide views of the amount and value of all product lines at each point of use, allowing stock levelling between different locations. This not only optimises inventory usage hospital-wide in line with operational activities, it also reduces the need for trips to check and replenish stock, cuts down on last minute delivery scheduling, highlights slow moving or unused stock for removal from the supply chain, reduces stock-outs and only provides stock where it is needed according to demand data. Automation of key inventory processes, progressively releases staff at all levels from day-to-day administration and enables management to gather information to better focus on strategic supply chain planning. Implementation will ensure a progressive, phased delivery of continuous ongoing improvement as the system is adopted, enabling additional efficiencies and cost savings to be identified and realised.

Bringing healthcare procurement into the 21st century

New advances in technology are facilitating a new era of efficiency for Portsmouth. Although inventory management solutions have long been used in a commercial setting, only recently have they begun to be implemented in a hospital setting. Selecting Smart Use to implement a trial of its inventory management solution in the theatres department has positioned Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust as an early adopter.

A scalable, flexible and robust solution, Smart Use has revolutionised the way in which inventory is requisitioned, stored, managed and utilised. The inventory management solution from Smart Use has enabled the Trust to overcome many of the procurement and supply chain issues it previously faced.

Smart Use sign up to the Microsoft Apprentice scheme

The government are trying to promote new talent into the ICT sector as part of the ‘Britain Works’ campaign and to get more people into employment.

Microsoft and their Partner Network are introducing their own Apprenticeship scheme starting in October 2012 to support the government’s campaign. Together Microsoft and their Partners are recognising that they need to increase UK ICT skills, address the lack of new people coming into the ICT sector and provide an alternative route into the industry for new talent.

Smart Use would like to welcome our two new apprentices, Sam Clilverd and Tom Weaver, who started in the office this week.

Good Luck boys!!!
