*** WE ARE HIRING ***

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Pembrokeshire’s friendly and respected Community Connector team. The Community Connector service is a preventative, community-based, citizen-centred approach to improving health and wellbeing in Pembrokeshire, beginning with a strengths-based, What Matters conversation and often involving social prescribing linked to the 5 Ways to Wellbeing and working in a place-based way as part of multi-disciplinary teams around GP surgeries.

This post covers North West Pembrokeshire, which includes St David’s, Solva, Fishguard & Goodwick and the rural areas between.

Working in partnership with the Local Authority, Health Board and wider voluntary sector, the Community Connector service is part of our Strengthening Communities programme which aims to work with Pembrokeshire communities to be active, connected, resourceful and sustainable places where people can live well.

So…if you enjoy working with people, you want a varied and busy role and thrive on solution finding and bringing the best out in others, we are keen to hear from you. Full training will be provided so we are keen to hear from those at the start of their careers or looking for a career change too.

Service Pause Announcement – November 2025

Pathway Counselling will temporarily pause all counselling sessions and new referrals until January 2026 as we await the outcome of our National Lottery funding application for the Transforming Trauma project.

This short pause will allow us to prepare for the next stage of our journey – building a stronger, sustainable, trauma-informed service for the Pembrokeshire community.

Over the past three years, Pathway Counselling has grown into a vital part of local mental health provision, helping people move from crisis to confidence and rediscover hope.
We are deeply proud of what has been achieved:

💚 1,000+ clients supported since launch
💚 6,000+ counselling sessions delivered across Pembrokeshire
💚 90% of clients reported improved mental health and wellbeing
💚 84.8% said they could not have afforded private therapy without our free service
💚 98% valued our fast access (average 1 week from referral to first session)
💚 91% wished for longer-term support — feedback that shaped our new Transforming Trauma programme
We extend a heartfelt thank you to our incredible staff, counsellors, volunteers, and partners for their unwavering commitment, and to our clients, whose courage and honesty have inspired everything we do.

While we pause delivery, our team is working behind the scenes to secure the funding and structure needed to reopen in January 2026 — stronger, more sustainable, and ready to meet the growing demand for trauma-informed support in our community.

If you need urgent mental health support during this time, please contact:

NHS 111 (Option 2) – for urgent mental health help
Samaritans – 116 123 (free, 24 hours)
Mind Pembrokeshire – 01437 769982

Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued belief in our work.

Together, we are empowering minds and inspiring change.

💙 A huge congratulations to Jasmyn for completing her running challenge!

We’ve known Jasmyn for a few years and have seen first-hand how much she cares about helping others, so to see her take on this challenge for such a meaningful cause makes us incredibly proud.

It’s been far from easy, but she’s done it to raise awareness and funds for those struggling to access mental health support here in Pembrokeshire, where services can be limited, expensive, and often involve a long wait on the NHS.

Every penny raised will go directly towards helping people get the counselling they need, when they need it most.

If you haven’t donated yet, please consider it. Your support truly makes a difference. 💙

The wonderful Keith is back to deliver his final two workshops for Pathway Counselling this year:

- Building your mental resilience £28
Tuesday October 14th (10:00am-12:30pm)
What we see and hear about each day, can disrupt our lives so how do you cut through the negative noise and find a way to move forwards? In fact, how do you go from ‘doom and gloom’ to hope and action. This short session will give you the tools to move forwards.

- Toolkit for better mental health £28
Tuesday November 11th (10:00am-12:30pm)
Good mental health refers to a state of well-being where an individual experiences happiness, health, and effective functioning in daily life to deal with challenging or stressful situations. In this session we look at the toolkit and strategies to take you along a path to achieving better mental health.

If you wish to attend, please give us a call to book your place on 01437 765335 (option 2), or email us on: counsellingadmin@pembrokeshirecaresociety .org.uk
