This looks like a great resource from Caudwell Children!

‘Get Sensory’ packs for children in the UK with a confirmed disability, and whose household income is under £45k. They ask for a £20 contribution and cover the other 80%.

Exercise is so important! Although this research is ADHD related I strongly believe that this is necessary for ALL kids (and adults actually!) Many of us have seen a dramatic decrease in our activity levels over the last year and are spending much more time at home, and I've found the impact of this is really starting to show in the referrals coming in. Many families are seeing an increase in behaviours that challenge, reduced attention and high frustration levels. Increasing physical activity is really simple way that could make a big difference! It doesn't need to be outdoors- see upcoming posts for easy ideas to keep active, even when it's Baltic! 🥶 https://www.additudemag.com/slideshows/exercise-ideas-for-kids-with-adhd-movement-for-focus/?fbclid=IwAR0_k30Q9HWsfuVt4KIi8NQaKIT1ynunxD5ViM2rksYJiWJGZYxUH4tPNb0

Aerobic exercise can help children with ADHD improve attention, sharpen social skills, and learn more effectively. Learn how to incorporate physical activity into your child's daily routine.

Attended a really great webinar on interoception from Kelly Mahler last week.

Interoception is the sense that provides information about the internal condition of the body, such as hunger, pain, as well as feelings such as anxiety, frustration or relaxation.

Interoceptive awareness can affect so many different areas of daily life (as can be seen in the diagram!), and is an area people with conditions such as Autism often struggle with, so it’s great to learn more about how to help people to increase their IA.

Do any of the situations in the ‘when IA breaks down’ picture sound familiar?

Over the holidays is a great time to work on dressing skills, without the pressure of the school run and morning rush. Here are some top tips:

-Do each dressing task the same way each time so a predictable sequence of steps is repeated

-Be specific about instructions at each stage

-Allow plenty of time and avoiding helping too soon

-Start with loose fitting items

-Reinforce any efforts!

If you would like specific support about developing dressing skills, please drop us a message 👕🧦👗🩲🥾
