‼️Important update to our Equine clients‼️

We would like to share that Sarah Simpson will be retiring from Hawick Vets, although she will continue to work part time with Rowley Mile Equine Ltd. We are sure you will join us in wishing her every happiness in what we know will be a very busy and well‑deserved (semi) retirement. Sarah has been dedicated to our clients and their horses for many years, and we are extremely grateful for her commitment, care, and professionalism.

After careful consideration, we have made the decision to discontinue our equine services from the 31st of March. This change allows us to focus our time, resources, and expertise where they are most needed and where we can continue to provide the highest standard of care.

We understand that this transition will require clients to seek alternative equine care, and we are happy to provide guidance during this process to ensure a smooth and supported handover. Rowley Mile Equine Ltd and Equitait both provide an exclusively equine service in the area. Once you have registered with another vet, please let us know and we will forward your horse’s clinical history.

Although we will no longer be offering equine veterinary services, our commitment to small animals and livestock remains unwavering. These areas have always been at the heart of our practice, and we are dedicated to continuing to support our clients and their animals with the same level of professionalism, compassion, and reliability you have come to expect from us.

Thank you for your understanding. It has been a pleasure to work with you and to care for your horses. If you have any questions about this change, please feel free to contact us.

Meet Marley, Willow and Coco who all came in to spend the day with us on Friday! They had a general anaesthetic and scale and polish each, only requiring 2 small extractions between them!

🚨 BIRD FLU UPDATE – SCOTLAND 🚨

An Avian Influenza Prevention Zone (AIPZ) remains in place across Scotland. If you keep poultry or captive birds, you must register them:

Please follow strict biosecurity measures to reduce contact with wild birds, keep feed and water covered, disinfect footwear and equipment, and restrict access to open water.

Cases of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza have been confirmed in Blairgowrie and Penicuik. Further restrictions may be introduced if the virus spreads.
