This gorgeous mare was very much in season today! We had a chat about childbirth and the Manosphere and she decided to focus on herself instead. She softened,relaxed and soaked up the sun and the bodywork, rather than thinking about the stallions who are stabled just around the corner. What a good girl! 🤗😇😍

The Masterson Method is a gentle and interactive technique, that works with the nervous system of the horse, to release deep tension in the key junctions of the body that most impact performance. The technique involves primarily light pressure to stay below the horse’s brace reflex. The Masterson Method is powerful yet surprisingly simple when you can tune into the subtle cues and responses from the horse. The light touch approach makes this modality especially effective in more sensitive horse who can easily escalate to fight, flight or shut down.

Over 50% of horses displaying behavioural problems will be struggling to manage underlying physical discomfort. This is why a joint approach with Wayne Bushnell Horsemanship has allowed us to fully support many horses through their training and rehabilitation journeys. So excited to be back at the Horses Inside Out conference on Soundness and Symmetry. The speakers have been excellent and do a great job of relating the latest scientific research with findings out on the ground. Brilliant and inspiring. It has been a tough, cold few days but it makes you all the more appreciative of a hot cuppa and a fully equipped horse solarium! 🤣

I have been thoroughly spoilt over Christmas with Baileys coffee, mince pies, biscuits and chocolates. Thank you to all my wonderful clients for keeping me going. I am really grateful. ☺️

A lovely write up of our comedy night with Trevor Lock and RW Equine Vet - Your Local Independent Equine Vet. 🤩

A comedian and actor, Trevor Lock, who has supported comedian Stewart Lee on tour and appeared at the Edinburgh Fringe, raised £300 for Brooke by performing stand-up comedy at a pub in Hawkhurst in November.

The event was organised by Brooke supporter Jenny Lee (pictured with Pyxie the donkey at our Christmas Carol Service earlier this month), who was drawn to fundraising for us through her work as a Masterson Method equine bodyworker and massage therapist.

Jenny said: “It’s always a privilege to promote Brooke and is like ‘pushing at an open door’ to get my clients to support such a meaningful charity. My clients invest in bodywork for their horses because they understand how vulnerable horses’ bodies can be to the workload we put on them. Their level of empathy extends to the wider equine and human populations that Brooke work with across the globe.”

Trevor said: “Working horses and donkeys have always quietly served us, suffered for us, and somehow kept their gentleness. They taught me patience, resilience, and how to stand completely still while someone tries to put a hat on you. Supporting Brooke now feels like carrying on the education they started.”

The money raised from Trevor’s comedy night will help support the lives of working horses, donkeys and mules around the world and the people who depend on them every day 🧡
