Day 2 of the 12 days of questions.

Is it true?

When you have a fear, a worry a negative thought always ask and consider is it true?? Immediately by doing this we can provide a space to take a breath and create distance from the thought. Our thoughts are not reality. They are a perspective. Simply stepping back from the thought might help to widen our perspective, shift that perspective, realise perhaps it’s not fact and maybe ask further questions. This question also applies to medical settings if a statement is made, ask yourself is it true? Is it borne out with facts, figures or measurements or is it an opinion?

Day 1 on the 12 days of questions. Let’s start with an important one to ask yourself.

What do I know about my baby that no one else knows?

This is a reminder that YOU are the expert on your baby. It may be the ‘smallest’ of things you know, what time they like to move, stretch or hiccup but you can build on this daily to build your trust in the amazing unique bond you have with your growing baby ❤️

Traditionally the 12 days of Christmas begins tomorrow on Christmas Day and lasts until the 5th January. A Christmas gift each day.
Instead I’m going to give you the 12 days of questions!
If you google what questions you should ask in pregnancy it is largely all about symptoms and worries and fear so let’s tip this on its head and ask more helpful ones! Starting tomorrow!

Merry Christmas everyone. Enjoy all the festivities with bumps and babies ❤️

Are you blessed with a bump this Christmas!?

If you are, congratulations, exciting times ahead! 🙌🏻

If you’ve managed to get the tree up, well done! A little harder to manage with a bump on board ❤️

And if you would like to jump on my hypnobirthing January course I have two spaces left. We start on the 5th. 7pm.

Come and cosy up on my sofa and prepare for your beautiful birth x

Subtle coercion can be difficult to detect. It often can go unnoticed.
It can slowly but surely chip away at confidence, makes a labouring mum question herself and can do a lot of damage!

Said in a relaxing calm manner when that woman is in labour trying to shut off her thinking brain, her subconscious is still listening and the information it hears is I’m not doing enough, something is wrong, there is a fix to this that is outside of me…

How to deal with it?

Be aware! Firstly be aware of subtle coercive, that it can happen and what it can sound like.

Prepare your birthing partner - he or she can remind this person that the suggestion is not necessary or needed or wanted alternatively hire a doula to support you in this way.

Consider a birth plan which says ‘do not offer…’
do not suggest …’
YOU of course can always ask for what you want or need in any given moment.

Do a good mindset focussed Hypnobirthing course - it is a powerful tool to protect yourself because it builds trust in yourself, creates a positive mindset and a space for you to retreat. Our Babies in Waiting course offers all this and also offers excellent support for birth partners and birth planning.

It was all about the toddlers today at our coffee morning meet up.

It’s one of the things I love about these monthly offerings that this community goes far and beyond the baby stage.

If you’re pregnant and want to know more about the services I offer, reach out and and say hi ❤️

Next meet up Wednesday 17th December.

‘Thank you again for all your guidance, support and knowledge it honestly changed our outlook on everything and gave us a voice during my labour’

Feeling very happy and grateful to have received these words yesterday.
Having your voice heard is a key part of a positive birth.

Being confident in your wishes and beliefs and advocating for yourself matters. Your partner too.

Contact me to book your space on an upcoming course

Hypnobirthing literally means birthing in a relaxed state. It doesn’t mean all of labour and birth is relaxing but that crucially in the moments of power and intensity through your labour you have an anchor of calm and trust. You have tools and techniques and a mindset that supports you. This babies in waiting course is a full antenatal course with ongoing support and resources. And this one is the last before the Summer.

Normal monthly dates will begin again in September. I have two spaces left for this current course available. If you’d like to jump in and grab the last spot please contact me, Karen, to book in and join us.

𝐹𝑜𝓁𝓁𝑜𝓌 𝓎𝑜𝓊𝓇 𝒻𝑒𝑒𝓁𝒾𝓃𝑔𝓈

We are often conditioned from very young to not pay attention to our own feelings. Instead we are told, listen to our mum, dad, brother, doctor, teacher, that ‘other’ person….

Animals don’t do this.
They pay close attention to that feeling, that intuition, that inner wisdom. It serves them in so many ways, to keep safe and find help when needed.

Feelings are energy.

The feelings or energy we have in labour and pregnancy are THE most valuable source of information.

They help us really tap into what we want and need.

Listen to those feelings whatever they are and equally stop listening to people outside of you over and above what you are feeling inwardly.

Listening to others over and above ourselves can look like this;

If you want a home birth but your head or ‘other’ person has been talking you out of it and you’re now planning a hospital birth.
If you want a physiological birth but your head has been talking you into a planned caesarean.
If you want your toddler at home when you labour but your head or someone else is telling you it’s not a good idea.
If you want to push but an ‘other’ is questioning the timing.

Follow the feelings, gather information if needed and see where it takes you.

If the feeling, the energy, is good it will lead you to the right place

Don’t let your head or someone else’s talk you out of greatness!

𝒮𝑒𝓁𝑒𝒸𝓉𝒾𝓋𝑒 𝒶𝓃𝒶𝓁𝓎𝓈𝒾𝓈

This is more common than you might think. There are so many studies about induction. Some studies show marginal benefits and some show none. Less common are the studies undertaken to show the harm.
This study looking specifically at ‘big’ babies is evaluated brilliantly here (and in more detail on her website) by Sara Wickham

Re-analysing data to get a preferred outcome is not unusual in the medical world.

Please check out and her website to find full non biased information about a whole range of topics and book onto one of our upcoming course!
