From a real conversation.

The unknown is a common fear.
Feeling out of control because of a lack of certainty.
But the magic of birth lies in the unknown. We don’t have to control it. In fact reaching for certainty doesn’t allow for your baby’s part to play in this beautiful event.

The mindset shift here, really helps to ease the focus away from that need to ‘know’ that need to hold on tight, and to - letting go.

Shifting our thinking like this can provide such a release in the body, you can see it.

Sit with uncertainty, play with uncertainty in your pregnancy and it will feel different when labour begins

It’s can be crazy where we choose to place our trust in birth.

We have a deep seated belief in our body’s capabilities in our everyday life yet somehow doubt our uterus in birth 🤔

When birth is treated like a medical event and not a natural one we forget to look inwards to how amazing our birthing body is.

If we focus on fear and complications we lose sight of the wonder and how well equipped our body actually is (when given what it needs)

Albeit excellent things to do when pregnant, all these activities have one thing in common - they are conscious.

And here’s the catch: all these conscious efforts might still leave you feeling unprepared.

Over time, through repetition, it’s true that the information you collect can influence your subconscious mind
but THE most powerful way to affect your subconscious beliefs about birth is through listening to hypnosis scripts - especially if you have feelings of anxiety.

If we just focus on the conscious stuff and don’t have an underlying trust in our ability to birth those beliefs can easily surface when we are in labour.

So if you want to build your trust in your body and in birth don’t leave out the ‘mind’ stuff.

Because mindset really matters!!

It works.

It reduces stress. Helps you achieve your goals.

Are you stuck with the same thoughts going round and round? You are not alone.

Maybe a fear about the future.
Maybe the pressure to make a decision

🎡First off notice when you’re doing it!
🎡Say ‘stop’ out loud - this will interrupt the thoughts long enough for you to make some space
🎡 Write them down then walk away. It’s the act of letting go here not fixing
🎡Breathe! Bring yourself back to the present moment.
🎡 now with a calm mind take time to consider what is the underlying concern
🎡Name the worry, the fear and immediate deactivate the activity in your limbic system
🎡If necessary decide on some action, speak to someone, get advice.

Try one or all of these to step off the merry go round and start your journey in a more positive direction

Most woman whom I have worked with in pregnancy want to be mindful of their sugar intake. Many want to reduce it.

The truth is that sugar has no known benefits to our growing baby but the reality is for most of us, it’s a part of our diet.

Having a healthy sweet snack prepared can make ditching other sugary foods or drinks easier to manage.

Finding a healthy balance can look like switching from refined sugars to less processed sugar options. Still high in sugar, yes but making snacks that are super tasty with more complex flavours help you to get that sweet fix while taking in some nutrients and minerals.

Think dates, maple syrup, raw honey, vanilla extract or stevia and add in flax, tahini, chia, h**p, all the seeds you like and lots of antioxidant rich cacao!

Low lying placentas

Common and nearly always resolves yet being told you have a low lying placenta still can and does cause concern, worry and sometimes a complete change in mindset. A complete release of control.

We can be told the likelihood of your placenta moving upwards with the growing uterus being 90% and a c section being required only if the placenta covers the cervix or is too close by a certain margin
But the mind hears C SECTION - that’s it

So how we choose to proceed mentally matters.

If you find you’re relinquishing your plan, the intention of the birth you want, if you find your mind is going round and round with what if’s;

Stop. Shift your focus back
to your intelligent body
to relaxation tools
to your healthy baby
to what you want
