Sauna Hat Workshop at SAUNA YOKU
Saturday 4th April | 1:30pm | 2.5 hours

An afternoon of social crafting, slow creativity, and deep heat.

Join us for a hands-on felted sauna hat workshop with Mati, followed by a relaxing sauna session at Sauna Yoku. Using traditional sheep's wool felting techniques, you'll design and create your own sauna hat. No sewing, no experience needed, just warm hands and a curious mind.

✨What you'll do:
Learn the ancient art of wool felting
Blend colours and shape a 3D design
Create your own personalised sauna hat
Unwind with a post-workshop sauna session

🧠 Why sauna hats?
Traditionally used in Finnish saunas and Russian banyas, felted sauna hats help regulate temperature, prevent the head from overheating, protect hair from heat damage, and allow you to enjoy longer, more comfortable sauna sessions.

⏳ How it works:
Felting is a slow, tactile process. During the 1.5-hour workshop you'll design and begin felting your hat. Mati will complete the final felting process for you, and your finished hat will be ready to collect from the same location one week later. Followed by an hours sauna and wild swimming experience.

🧵 About Mati:
Mati has previously run needle felting workshops with Brighton Arts Social Club and brings a thoughtful, relaxed approach to traditional craft. This workshop has been specially adapted for sauna hat making.

SAUNA YOKU is a wood-fired outdoor sauna experience based on a private farm in Cuckfield.

We host relaxed weekend wellness sessions where you can warm up, cool off and spend time in nature.

Each visit includes:

Our community sauna sessions are 75 minutes, and we also run Lazy Wild Spa sessions (90 minutes) for those who want to slow things down and really take their time.

Valentine’s doesn’t have to be loud or overdone. This is a quieter way to spend the day.

Private couples sauna sessions with the full Sauna Yoku experience: heat, fresh air, cold water swimming, and time outdoors designed to calm the nervous system and support real connection.

Each session is just for you two, with ambient lighting, music, and curated aromatherapy steam. Afterwards, cool off properly and warm up by the fire with a hot chocolate.

This guided daytime session is shaped around the rhythm of the moon as a simple pause point: a moment to check in, reflect, and reset. Nothing mystical. Nothing forced.

You can expect guided sauna rounds and breathwork, space for quiet and journaling, crystal bowls and live drumming, time outdoors, an optional cold water dip, tea, a face mask, and a closing fire ceremony.

Full & New Moon Sauna Sessions

These sessions are a chance to step out of the noise and spend a few hours doing less but doing it well.

Our Full and New Moon gatherings are guided sauna experiences shaped around the natural rhythm of the moon. Not in a mystical way - more as a simple pause point: a moment to check in, reflect, and reset.

You can expect:

• Multiple rounds of guided sauna and breathwork
• Space for quiet, reflection, and journaling
• Crystal bowls and live drumming woven gently through the session
• Time outdoors, with an optional cold water dip
• A face mask, tea, and a closing fire ceremony
• Everything is optional. Nothing is forced.

We've moved these sessions into the daytime to make them more accessible - easier to attend, easier to integrate, and better for leaving you feeling clear and steady rather than spaced out.

Each gathering is small, mixed-gender, and carefully held by experienced guides. It's not about being "spiritual" - it's about slowing down, being present in your body, and reconnecting with yourself (and others) in a simple, human way.

You'll leave feeling:
