Stay ahead of the sniffles this season! ❄️✨
(writing this with a heavy cold and regretting my lack of self care!!)

While handwashing and rest are musts, acupuncture offers a time-tested way to strengthen your body’s natural defences against seasonal colds and flu.

How acupuncture can help:
- Boosts Your "Shield": In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), we focus on Wei Qi—the body's protective energy that acts as a shield against environmental stressors like "Wind-Cold".
- Activates Immune Cells: Modern research suggests acupuncture can increase white blood cell counts (specifically T-cells) and enhance Natural Killer (NK) cell activity, which are crucial for fighting off viruses.
- Speeds Up Recovery: If you already feel a tickle in your throat, early treatment (ideally within 24 hours of symptoms) can help halve recovery time and reduce the severity of congestion and headaches.
- Calms the System: Stress suppresses your immune response. Studies suggest acupuncture lowers cortisol levels and promotes deep rest, giving your body the energy it needs to stay healthy.

Little blog post about the difference between classical acupuncture (performed by a degree-level trained acupuncturist) and dry needling (typically performed by a physiotherapist or osteopath etc). Hopefully it will help you choose which modality is most suited to your specific needs...

Whilst acupuncture and dry needling share some similarities, they are very different in their origins, underlying philosophies, and treatment approaches.

As part of my commitment to ongoing learning and professional development, I recently attended a training course on 'acupuncture for cancer survivors'. Photo of me with the wonderful Beverley de Valois, who led the course and has written an amazing book on the subject.
Thanks to the wonders of modern medicine, more and more people are surviving cancer. Once cancer treatment is over, some people experience long-term side affects of treatment (e.g. fatigue, chemotherapy-induced hot flushes or peripheral neuropathy).
Acupuncture is widely used to support cancer survivors in managing these longer term symptoms. Contact me to find out more.

Lovely morning at Buxted Business Networking Group this morning. It was great to meet some other health and wellness practitioners too. I always like to think of them as friends and colleagues rather than competitors! Acupuncture is often used alongside many other Western and complementary therapies (and I am all for that!)
Plus I also met with Symbiotics Canine Welfare who are going to help with the Jack Russell going through a rebellious teenage phase! 🦮
